"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

I realise this may look like I'm nibbling at both ends of the argument, but if people do manage to get OWE with another program then their flying pattern is likely to be the same as when they were with QF, won't it? So boycotting QF but still flying them. And the main advantage for Aussies of the QF programme over other OW programmes is surely the ability to earn a lot of points from ground activity. I'm not sure the churning bonuses exist for other OW programmes, in which case these fleeing members are likely still to collect QF points anyway. Aren't they?
Most of our points come from OS flights and we don’t use QF anyway so no loss to them.
On domestic flights I mostly on a paid BA fare or an AA award so again no loss to QF.
Just had a good giggle with the spellcheck. It changed the last e in fare with a t.

I may well have missed the particular discussion but
I am guessing that this "major investment" will not involve easier access to other OW carriers so we are only talking about access to flight sectors that QF flies !
I mention this because other carriers offered alternatives to QF - eg SYD-DOH-LHR on Qatar.
These options are getting fewer!

No change to partner award availability.

Nah, just by diversifying across several foreign FFPs with points/miles and exploiting each program’s sweet spot. I always recommend this approach instead of pursuing status by spending way too much with an undeserving local carrier selling “bundles of rights”.
This is something I have done for years. Of course not everyone has either the travel need or budget to be able to manage this - so thats where most will obviously want to focus on one program.

Imo all the programs change and sweet spots can be fleeting as the landscapes change.

There may even be a time where QFF offers great value.....

Oh wait, it's after midday.

More accurately: Because Qantas does not control partner award availability.
Except I can find it on my AA and BA accounts but not on Mrsdrron's account as LTG. My AA and BA accounts are both OWS at present.

That does not contradict the comment. It proves some partners limit to QF (Eg QR). It's not QF limiting what partners offer them....

But maybe because QF does not provide awards for their partners members?

Maybe.

Or maybe it's the ever more common situation with many airlines of restructing availability to their own members over partners.

Yes, in your example, you saw some availability via BA and AA. Unsure which operating carrier is involved but there could be multiple factors, including possible phantom availability.

Anyway, yeah it happens whatever the reasons. They may even be contractual agreements rather than say limits born of spite for want of a better word. 🤷‍♂️

That is a result of QR's decision, not QF.

QF would love for its members to have access to QR award flights — it would take a huge amount of pressure off their own program. But QR have restricted availability for reasons that have been mentioned in other threads (they're basically in a tit for tat battle).

It’s not just QR though. It does seem that for whatever reason some partner awards are just not showing on QF but are showing on other OW programs.

When I was looking about a month ago I found BA availability was very patch on QF compared to what I could see on the QR, BA and AA websites. I haven’t looked lately to see if was just temporary or not.
Slightly off topic but the AF partnership doesn’t turn up much in availability at all for some routes so I’m wondering if AF have blocked them from QF or QF are simply not releasing them.
CDG-DXB for example has pretty much zero availability on AF for most dates I looked yet AF and SkyTeam partners often had 9 or more J seats available on many dates.

That is because BA is in a cartel alliance with AA and shares a currency with QR.

Basically QF is now the ugly duckling of the oneworld program. It's decision to pursue an alliance with Emirates has come at a heavy cost. QF integrated with EK while BA, AA, QR, IB & AY integrated with each other. QF made its bed, now it has to lie in it.

I am not talking just about QR but awards on other OW airlines as well such as JAL and BA. Zero on the sectors we want through QFF but available through my BA and AA accounts.
Looking at a year out and absolutely zero CR awards with QFF except with EK and their excessive charges.

I answered that here. You'll have to provide an example of JL being more restrictive to QF because I have yet to see any evidence of that.
