Wendouree allocations and general discussion

I sent a letter requesting to join the mailing list 2 weeks ago, reply arrived today in the form of a nice hand written note on the back of a card - in summary it said joining the mailing list is the easy part, receiving an allocation is a differenmt matter given they have 2 small vintage releases ahead of them and newcomers may not be very lucky. I will try my luck and what will be, will be......

Hey all,

Where do we contact the winery to apply for membership? *Edit* 1st contained address & number. Old school, I like it!

I've read a few pages, but it's a long thread and I just read a fair bit of disappointment 😬

If by disappointment you mean missing out in your first few years on the list then yes... expect that.
But if you’re happy to play the long game and take what you can get in the short term then all it costs you is a stamp.

Not to beat a dead horse, it's not the limited allocation, the waiting time or the inconvenience of snail mail that scares me off.

It's the stories from long term supporters of the winery about inadvertently missing one year due to a holiday, or whatever, and suddenly plummeting down to the lowest level allocation. Or even worse, mistakes being made by the winery that lead to missed orders or problems and then a subsequent reduced level of allocation.

Absolutely, that's fine.
There are limited allocations. It is what it is.
Yup.

I get it, I plan to sign up & my brother. I think between us, we should in time get enough to be content. If I received excess, I would be happy to share at cost price with others members.

:)

The best way is to write, calling is a waste of time and fair chance nobody picks up anyway.

The sooner you write, the sooner you'll get an allocation.

Good luck getting on the list. I tried last year and was told no due to the smaller allocation. That's expected again this year.

I got a few ideas tho, and as a fellow South Aussie I would say that at least puts me above people from interstate! I will tell them, if any Victoria's are on that list, I'd be very disappointed!

Ok, I'll be super nice and see if I ever get a response ☺️
East End Cellars always have reasonable stock when it comes in. And also have a great back selection.
