Wendouree allocations and general discussion

Sydney received this morning, wen to the post office during lunch and they are out of express envelop!! Anyway, sent. Anyone paid the extra $3 on the form? I didn’t .
They will automatically deduct I'd say. But why wouldn't you add for 3 bucks?

Seems random to a certain degree what marking you get. Wendouree lottery system, but hey- it's a fun lottery to enter
It's definitely not random nor a lottery. Patience and loyalty are rewarded.

It says "Please include FULL COVER at $3.00 for each carton". But how do you calculate the cost if the allocation can be scaled down?
When filling the form out - do you just put the number of bottles requested or calculate totals and freight/insurance costs too?
They will calculate once order finalised.

Since I don’t usually receive my full order, I only calculated the wine total(per wine) and the per carton charge on the side. They are going to re calculate at the end anyway, I don’t mind they take any $3 extra per case, I just though that writing out all the cost doesn’t really help them much if we didn’t get what we asked for. and I’m a bit lazy.

So just fill out number of bottles requested and leave the freight and insurance fields blank?

If anyone’s interested and has the 2020 Shiraz, we tasted at a recent Shiraz blind masterclass of twelve wines from SA and WA (east coast grapes shot that year from fires, so none in the line up) in the three brackets 4 wines each, my three were a Swan Valley (Faber Reserve), Clare( which was the Wendouree) and Swan Valley Upper Reach).
Three best picked across the group was the Wendouree, a Swan valley(Faber reserve) and Margaret river Shiraz.(Deep Woods Reserve).

So, I signed up 2 years ago, if that's what you call it, and received a latter back then, and last year a letter to say I couldn't order etc, but just today I have received my first order form. Where are these crayon marks meant to be that everyone talks about?

I recall the first few posts of this thread all details what not to do, but what should I do? I'm happy with anything to start my journey, so what quantities should I be putting next to things? I usually go in 3's when it's something new so I can try, cellar medium and cellar long. Is that safe?

The crayon mark is in the top right corner of the order form that you send back. It appears that the most recent additions to the list are left blank.

People have varying theories as to how one should order early in their journey, personally, I ordered how you are proposing for the first years on the list, generally getting them mostly filled as ordered. More recently have gone with some 6's and 3's with mixed success. This is my 8th year of ordering

Thank you for the sage advice. I just added that all up and it's $1200, but I figure I wont get everything, and if I do it's an investment like everything else in my cellar.

Essentially how I look at my order every year. Here's to a delivery coming to your door in the next couple of months.

I always be reasonable with the purchases, since 18 I’ve just gone a mixed dozen most times. Some times always get the whole order and sometimes not. But as some here say if your loyalty and time in the list in where you’re at you should get all and or more if you order. Even my old man who’s a long time member doesn’t always get everything he orders. 😊🍷👍🏻

Received a form. Sydney Metro. I applied in March 2021 and missed out in 2021 & 2022. Price list attached and "limit of six bottles applies on each of the wines on offer" and a blank order form on the back - no markings or crayon. I might be wrong but it seems that the prices have gone down from last year. Shipping $19 per a sixer with a $3 insurance included.
Edit - misread - $3 per cartoon is an extra for insurance on top of $19.

TBH - given the winery prices, this looks like a rip-off.
There's definitely a premium be8ng charged. But do these prices include postage? And if course you have the ability to actually get some wine here rather than facing the Wendouree priority ordering system.

Tried to buy from them last year but couldn't as I wasn't a member/student of the University
