Wendouree allocations and general discussion

Re: Wendouree 2016 allocations

I'll set the record straight. Some of this thread makes it sound like getting on the mailing list is super exclusive - it's not. It's true, they use snail mail. From personal experience, send a letter asking to get on their mailing list - nothing less, nothing more...this ain't the soup naz_ from seinfeld.

I'm hearing you, but when the wine is this good, at the price point set, be there, or be without!

Did any record need to be set straight?

Very strange and melodramatic post and claims.

I invite you to list the messages which suggest 'super exclusive' as I don't believe that they exist.

I think that you'll find plenty of details of the process involved in getting on the list and people's experiences.

I dont believe you'll find one message which indicated that a person failed to get on the list. Hence I find it odd that you make your claim of exclusivity.

I would say it's relatively easy to get on the list. I have detailed the process previously very clearly so that anyone who wanted to join could do so - send a letter asking nicely is all it takes (see message #3, for example, there is no mention of needing to write a hand written letter). Where's the exclusivity here?

But getting on the list is VERY different from getting everything you might want/first preference at the popular items (see message #67 for example). There's a reason they have different tiers of membership status. They reward loyalty.

I get you...what I'm saying is what it takes to "be there" is much less than this thread implies. Write handwritten letters on personal stationary if you must...but you don't need to.

Mate, you're the one who implied hand written letters, etc, etc, and there were clearly responses where people took you up on that and invested time into it. My post was clear and simple...not required unless you have a jones in your pants to do it...this isn't soup naz_.

Wow....that escalated quickly.

Btw, the hand written letter on personal stationary clearly displaying a family crest with the pages heavily perfumed is an inside joke going back to the late 90's.

Never was and never has been hard to get on the list, but the progression within the mailing list was always guess work. Similar to stonewallers and noons, isnt hard to get on the list, just need to know how.

Unfortunately it's very easy to drop off the list though.

I had been buying since the mid-80's, black initials level, but didn't buy any of the 2011 release. I didn't get an offer the next year and had to re-apply and go back to square one again, made it to red crayon this year.

Re: Wendouree 2016 allocations

2011 was my first purchase on the mailing list, I asked for 4 of everything and I received 2 bottles each except straight cab and malbec. 2 cases delivered but with 1 case half empty. and there I thought even a bad vintage sold out so quickly ,here I saw some members bought like 15-20 cases . that makes me wonder why I didn't get more from my order. must be a first year thing.

Sent letter asking to be on mailing list last week, today received an order form with "enquiry 18-7-16" written in top right. Not sure how to approach first order, but based on comments on here will order a few of each, maybe even leave off straight Shiraz and see what happens. Have not had much of their stuff but all I have had have been amazing. Hopefully this is the start of building a big collection

Welcome aboard OrangeRoughie, that's great news.

Welcome to AFF OR . I got the green light last year and wasn't allocated any straight shiraz or cabernet. Have asked for a modest mixed dozen this year, having been given the "Red Crayon".

Also made my first order after joining the mailing list a couple of months back. Ordered a bit of a mix and looking forward to see what arrives :)

You never know your luck, last year was my first order and I received all 12 as ordered inc 6 x Shiraz.

Full request got charged today - 5 cases on the way - to sleep and give as gifts

Woo hoo

Anyone else had luck?

Still waiting. But they often do different states in different orders each year.
