Wendouree allocations and general discussion

Melbourne...

If you get stuck, I am MEL-based, and have a large cellar that can always fit more wine

In any case, I am hopeful that I have an order form waiting when I get home.

Have you joined the mailing list Wozza?

No. It seems to liven up in my realm when I'm at my most busy or on holiday. Maybe I should send them a postcard! Or will that just put me at the bottom of the pile?

Never mind- you can always sign up when you get back ready for next year :) or maybe you could get your PA to knock up a letter and send it for you*

Looks like you are having a great holiday

(*I Guess you would get a 0.25 - 0.5% discount on the nominal $15- a sentence and $50 stamp licking charge.... )

only took you 5 years? there's a lot of people still on "red" crayon for the past 20 years.

There must be a reason for this?

I imagine buying 6 of everything every year would see someone go up the "status" (for want of a better word) levels quicker than others with smaller orders?

What do others think?

I doubt the others bought less, am I allow to post another forum link here? this is my forth year in the mailer,I always get 6 of all their reds plus Muscat. only my first year(2011) had less because I joined in late July. I just got up to red crayon last year, it is already hard to get up to the "black" crayon, then the initials is the highest of all.

Just double checked, This is my 6th year of ordering.

I have responded to their hand written letters each time with a hand written reply.

I have ordered between 2 and 20 cases each of those years.

i also replied with a little hand written note too, about half page long.but I only received their hand written letter on the first year, after that was just the usual intro on what's available and the order form.

I think as long as you are ordering a mix of everything , you can get more ,l usually order 6 of everything and for Malbec, cab and cab Malbec I got a dozen each. and haven't missed anything (2011 missing cab and Malbec)

Something to aspire to

Maybe, but only if you don't want to grow your bank balance as well :)

They let you buy 20 cases?!

Yes, that was the 2011 vintage, when there was a lot left unsold (after first round of offers?) because of the perceived bad year everywhere in South Australia.

I have a colleague who purchased 30 cases that same year.

We need to dome some sort of Wendouree/Rockford BP swap :p

If only these wines were on the same level.

Re: Wendouree 2016 allocations

Thanks for that link Dr Ralph, it should provide a good few hours of reading

edit; my Wendouree order may have had a few more Cab Sauv's if I had read this before sending it off....

It was the 2013 that won the award. Orders this year were for the 2014.

I've just checked and I only got 6 of the 2013 Cab Sauv last year. I'm thinking of breaking my 8 year rule and trying one this weekend at a dinner party I'm hosting.

Just reading this on our umpteenth flight in Europe (leaving Barca for Lanzarote). I might ask the pilot to re-direct for that party, Dr Ralph ...!!! Enjoy and look forward to your TN afterwards.
