West Hotel, Sydney, a Curio by Hilton hotel

I see there is a newish walkway from the station - Wynyard Walk? Is anybody able to give guidance of the best walking route with luggage from Wynyard station to the hotel?

Variety of options, but for the flattest walking part using the Wynyard Walk escalators and lifts:

Take Wynyard Walk all the way to Barrangaroo (ie crossing the overpass over Sussex St then down near David Jones and the big towers).
Then left up Shelley (passing the Amex building and Ibis), left onto Erskine, right onto Sussex

I have a stay booked for next week at $208 pre paid but only two room types showing. Still it will be a welcome change to be in a quiet part of the city and parking across the road is the same price as the Hilton. I know prices can change as it gets closer but at the time of booking there was a $40 difference which will make up for no lounge.

Equally have a few stays booked before Xmas and only seeing King Acacia/King Banksia available.

I wonder if only partially open as they seem to close over Xmas (never seen dates from 24-27). Also the first few days from 13-Dec now showing no availability.

For later in January they have
King/Twin Acacia
King/Twin Banksia (upper floors)
King Waratah Premium (highest floors, facing Barangaroo)
King Sussex Suite 46sqm
King Barrangaroo Suite 46sqm

Which seems to be the full offering

Will report back next Sunday

Would you mind sharing which merchant appears on your credit card statement/activity for the $208 pre-payment?

Thinking of booking the same rate for a night next week, but need to ensure it qualifies for the Amex statement credit (which requires the hotel itself is the merchant).

I am going to ask someone at the Hilton if they have any information regarding the room availability at the Curio as I know a few that

Thanks Hydrabyss and Princess Fiona.

I was all ready yesterday to book the $208 ‘members sale room only’ rate for a stay next week, but the rate had jumped to just under $250! HSYD was cheaper for my dates on a flexible rate, plus I get 15% off those meaning I now have a room booked at HSYD for under $200 next week.

I noticed today the West Hotel Sydney had dropped back to $208, and I will continue to monitor their rates in case they drop further.

Yep, mine came out today for my weekend stay. Same as you West Hotel Sydney.

I will be at the Hilton this friday and sunday and the curio early next week. ll be interested to see how the Diamond benefits go though.
They are also showing 3 room types now for the curio so if my stay is nothing special tomorrow night I may switch to the curio for sunday night.

Suite on top floor. Booked standard room. First impressions are good.
Parking available across the road at Wilson’s. I prepaid with Wilson as it’s cheaper than the hotel rates.
The staff are young, enthusiastic and friendly. Much more of a boutique hotel feel than Hilton SYD.
Diamonds get Complimentary breakfast in the restaurant and two welcome drinks in the bar. I was told to show my Diamond card in my Apple Wallet. A complimentary entree appeared too. It was delicious.

Thanks PF for the pics. It does look nice, but the foyer seems a bit compact. My first thought was that HSP could take a leaf from that book. They can't make space that doesn't exist, but they can certainly make great use of what they do have!

A few more photos as a Hilton Gold.

Was 'only' upgraded to a Waratah Premium Room on the 8th floor (at the moment they are only operating some floors). No drink vouchers, but a similar hand written welcome letter. Invitation to continental breakfast in morning.

From the website I believe Waratah rooms are Darling Harbour/ freeway side, and the Banksia the city side, and Premium means high floor.
So I think this is what most standard rooms will be like.

It's a nice modern looking room, albeit not huge and the marble desk and chair, circular chair, footrest and two side tables appear a bit much for the space.

Breville Nespresso machine and coffee machine. Mini bar fridge with two water bottles only. Open dresser with only five coathangers.

Bathroom is simple toilet, sink and moderate sized shower. Biology branded lotions and potions (different to the suite as mentioned above).

Internet won't be a problem as each room has its own HP Aruba point with 4 network ports and WiFi on the wall under the desk with three power points, USB. More USB points both sides of the bed and a power point so that is well taken care of.
The Hilton Standard internet gave me 2ms pings and a capped 5/5 speed.

Nice sized LG TV on the wall, but only FTA channels and no accessible HDMI ports. Was also given a Bluetooth code for the room (which I will try and work out). No clock or radio.

Everything is West Hotel branded with no Hilton Curio branding whatsoever. Only a hanging ME TIME/YOUR TIME paper sign for housekeeping. No hotel/Sydney guide nor any magazines.

Reminds me a bit of Hotel Hotel in Canberra. That desk is next to useless though if you want to work though.

Is the lighting in the room decent or not really?
