Westfield XS card

Just FYI - purchased a very large bulk of cards from Westfield in Dec for staff Xmas gifts. Paid on my Centurion Amex. Awarded 1 point per dollar.

Things may have changed since then, however I definitely was awarded points.

blessed,
Did you buy the Gift Cards or the XS cards?
(Appreciate also that some Westfield operators may not know the difference)

Hi moa999

Purchased Westfield XS Gift Cards. Ensures much more flexibility for my staff to make good use of the cards.

On a separate note, purchased a very large amount of Woolies Gift cards on the same card, points have been rewarded

Cheers

FWIW, I have no objection to this thread or the ATO thread where there has also been a view to restrict or limit the knowledge to a select few.

I've purchased two $30 cards today. Total cost was $60 on bank issued amex (no postbillpay allowed), with the activation fees paid by cash.

When active, I shall try woolies cashout (self serve), act dumb at post office asking if i can pay a cc by swiping it, maby even an atm transaction @ a non bank atm.

If this topic is no more, msg me for a reply ;) ...

Not fully showing up on cc right now, only in the authorised stage.

thought max was $995 + $4.95. so how come the charge was $1,101.90?

LOL I was wondering if anyone would notice. I also bought $100 Westfield gift card to experiment with that. So far I can report that BOTH cards worked for purchases in Woolies. I am aware that it's of very little use to know that :). It's just data.
And indeed, as posted above, Coles do not accept them. The different Westfield concierge today was very helpful in explaining that.
Unfortunately the same women in the Post Office wasn't quite so helpful...."you have a lot of those?" "you know you cannot do banking with them?" I muttered something about Christmas presents and ended up not paying anything today. Part of today's outing was to use a different Amex to see if points post. More data.
I think my next step is to see if there is a Post Office self help pay machine anywhere in Adelaide. It's only there that I will feel comfortable seeing what bills I can pay with these cards.
Really it's no business of the PO CSO how I pay my bills if allowed by the system but there was certainly reluctance (compounded by lack of familiarity maybe) today. That said it was 3 minutes to closing time
By the way if anyone wants to enlighten me by PM the information will be will be gratefully accepted.

I fear saying too much about these things because stuff does get shut down - I miss the days of being able to literally get free money with points.

WOW - seems like you are posting from experience;)

FWIW I don't blame you or your fantastic thread for the near extinction of EDR bonus point offers.

Still get a laugh talking about it.....great story!

yep, and maybe I accept like the ATO thread and the best SC runs and K/YUpp fares that maybe it's best not to shout from the rooftops. It IS tricky.

yes, I thought that is who it was. Well done Joshua

It is times like this that I am glad I have a good relationship with the guy at my Post Office (I have a PO Box there, and regularly get deliverys requiring a signature).

This isn't a list of locations, just says how payments can be made with POSTBillPay:

Postbillpay - Australia Post

Contacted Aus Post by phone, might hopefully recieve a call / email or snail mail regarding my actual question put to them: Where are all the Self Serve machines located around the entire country?

I've only so far been given Melbourne/Vic. Total of 8 locations in Melbourne / VIC. Msg me for the details ;)

Was also told:

- Not all PO's will have then installed / added, upto each PO to choose if they wish to participate.
- NOT ALL BILLS are accepted through the "self service" machines, only billers/companies who have given permission/agreed to be part of it. Tax Man, other governments bills not likely to work @ "self checkout".

More news/info when it happens.

In other news: Went to Woolies/Safeway, failure on two counts. (1) Cashout at self serve (2) Payment of the Woolies EDRCC @ the service desk. (tested $30 card which is now active).

Hmmmmmm................ I wonder if my property manager would accept payment of my rent by eftpos. They've told me they dont accept credit cards so I pay by direct debit each month. I wonder if I could go into the office once a month to pay by this XS card....

another bit of information for the data stream. Used dalmation store cc that arrived quickly from the land of the free to buy Xs card yesterday. Waiting to see if points post as they did ultimately post recently.

Used that xs card today to pay cc that adorns QF aerobridges.

(is that obscure and sharing enough to please everyone...:) LOL probably not)

coles 525, did you see your PM? I concur re failure at WW cash out :(. Let's keep exploring

Buying the card instore may not be the best course of action ;)

I have investigated this, as a method to double-dip.

Unfortunately I can't see the larger units on the correct site - there are actually 2 seperate vendors (websites / checkouts). One site takes Amex, one doesn't. One site offers double-dipping, one doesn't. The optimal strategy is always to minimise fees, so the value equation changes yet again with smaller units + double dip vs larger units, no double dip.

You can of course buy multiples which means the postage does not change, been doing it for over a year and in fact was the thread where the XS was really first mentioned ;)

Earn 2,050 Velocity Frequent Flyer Points on this purchase.

Same place actually allows you to quadruple dip if you are into EDR points, cooking wine and gift cards ;)

In that case I assume you have an excellent relationship with your local post office? :p :p

I received your pm, will keep trying new things if I think of any other ways around.

Been approved for the DJ Platinum, wjich should arrive in a week or so, thus will postbillpay it during the 1st billing date.

smit0847, i pay my rent by this site called rentalrewards.com.au, you need to go in and register then see if your particular letting agent is included in the list but has quite a long list of them... I think it charges about a 1.6% fee so my $400 a week rent was costing me about $407 or so, but i figured if paying with my ANZ Amex from which i get 1.5points/$ that shopuld get it down to roughly 1% or 1 cent a point... So that has added up to an easy 30,000 QFF points this year... Almost felt like asking some of my family who are renting if i could pay it for them as well and get them to reimburse me, but always the hassle of making sure you get their payments to recoup what you have paid etc unless you set it up as a direct debit...

The XS card might mean you don't need to pay the 1.6% fee, but if you can't get it accepted you can fall back on this...

PS Thinking big like AFF'ers tend to do, if anyone is renting an office/building or something I'm not sure if this would work for them as well... :)
