Card Offers Westpac Altitude Black offers: 120,000 Qantas or Velocity Points (expires 30/4/25)

Quick question... how do you become existing customer? Whats the easiest way.... savings account?
Yes. I did that some time ago with an online savings account sign up. I've never used that account, but having it provides access to this type of offer.

I did likewise with a "Westpac Reward Saver" account back in March, 2016. I still have the Westpac login, but that account is long gone due to lack of use, and that account type is no longer available. I can't see any fee free ways now, short of cycling $2000 through a "Westpac Choice" account every month, as I don't meet any of the exemption criteria.

It was only ten months or so ago that I last closed a Westpac Altitude card, so I'll think about this one again in a couple of months.

But it has to be linked to an everyday account, which is where the fees are.

The account fee’s are charged monthly, if you open an account now & access the credit card, simply close the account before end of month.

I did the same with my ANZ platinum recently to show hopefully I’m a more valuable customer.

Good news deebens.. less work for you. Out of interest were you an existing Westpac customer as the conditions seem to require?

Yeah I am. although in the past that's been more of a hindrance. Massive headaches with old cards stuck in the IT system bogging up applications. Happened with an application late last year or early this year, I can't remember when, I eventually gave up, but they said they'd deleted the offending problems and give it some time before reapplying. This is the first application since.

I'd be interested to know people's paths for becoming an existing customer to avoid the first year annual fee. I have to admit, I didn't notice that on quickly skimming over the details when first alerted to the offer.

I've had CC's with Westpac before and even one of those Savings Accounts if you open up and deposit $2k into the account once a month you receive $50 at the end. That account is now closed but appears to be the best bet (with the deposit $2k in and out each month to avoid the $5 account keeping fee), although the comment on closing it when approved and card received has some merit.

From my own check of the Westpac site and comments on ozbargain, it looks like this deal has ended (very early). They are no longer offering the annual fee waiver. Sad, as my savings account was opened this morning...

This happened the last time this was offered. The offer looked like it was available for months from the stated end date, but that time it ended within a few days. Being aware of this, I acted over the weekend. Seems this has happened again.

Bugger. He who hesitates is lost.

Apologies if this has been answered earlier in this thread or elsewhere on the forum - I have a question on how Westpac's sign-on bonus exclusion period works with a Westpac Amex which I'm hoping someone can help clarify.

I currently hold the Westpac QFF Black MC + Amex bundle, and have received the separate sign-on bonus spends for both cards. I don't hold any other Westpac rewards cards. My plan is to close the Westpac MC soon, but hang onto the Amex while I serve out the 18 month bonus exclusion period on "proper" Amex cards.

Does anyone know whether closing the Westpac MC is enough for my 12 month bonus exclusion period to recommence? or would I have to close the Westpac Amex also?

It's a weird one because even though the card is Westpac branded, it's issued and serviced by Amex. It seems to sit in a bit of a no-mans land between the two organisations (which could be beneficial in my situation...)

Any advice appreciated!
