Card Offers Westpac Altitude Platinum Offers: 80,000 Qantas/Velocity Points or 120,000 Altitude Points (expires 30/4/25)

I know someone who recently applied for the Westpac Qantas Black card. Min credit limit on the card is 15k, they specified 15k in the application, then got approved with a 10k limit, but still got the black card. Weird!
do you know if they still got the sign up bonus?

They only received the card last week so haven't yet hit the min spend, but were assured they would get the sign-up bonus. FWIW their income was only slightly above the usually stated minimum for Black cards, and they'd never had a relationship with Westpac before (but had a longstanding relationship with St George)

i should have checked this forum more often!

Covid19 has put ice on my credit card churning. got some free time today, applied for a Westpac Black to get 90K QFF @300$ fee. Expensive since we don't know when and if we will ever be able to use these QFF points. Anyway, i then realise this 75K QFF bonus option with no fee and ho ho ho, i bank with Westpac. Call them to get the Altitude Blank cancelled. Reapply for this Platinum and hope for the best.

wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable Xmas. Look forward to flying again.

I just wonder if the 90 day limit starts when we get approved. I think if it is possible to get the digital card, then it will start from the day the card gets approved and we can start spending.

Anyone with experience on how long the bonus points take to credit with Westpac?

I can tell you they're not fast - partner applied 26 Nov, received card 5 Dec, min spend hit 15 Dec. Just received her 2nd statement since completing bonus requirements and still no points.

I was an early adopter here.

Made the minimum spend in the 2nd statement. The statement after (3rd statement) I received the 75k points along with that months spend.

Will close down once received points for the current month.

I'm a huge fan of the Westpac Altitude Black but I applied for this one last month as it works out better in terms of $$$ per bonus point.

This would definitely rank in the top 3 credit card offers for my fellow churners out there.

Not denying it is worthy of a churn, but top 3? what are you comparing it against?

Qantas Money is $199 for 100k points
ANZ Black is effectively $225 for 120k points
Qantas Amex Ultimate is effectively $250 for 100k points and a $450 QF travel credit
St George Amplify Signature is $279 for 90k points
Westpac Altitude Black Qantas $300 for 90k points...

On a $$$ per bonus point basis.

Umm..

Qantas Money is $1.99 per 1000 bonus points
ANZ is $1.88 per 1000 bonus points
Amex is $2.50 per 1000 bonus points
St George is $3.10 per 1000 bonus points
Westpac is $3.33 per 1000 bonus points

You may want to check your math. It's actually $0.67 per 1,000 bonus points given there's only a $50 qantas rewards fee to be paid.

I'd misread your first post and thought you were saying the Westpac Black was top 3. But in any case, where are you seeing this card for no annual fee? The Westpac website shows $99 fee in the first year?

I applied a few days ago and surprised that then the $50 qantas fee was also being waived. Logged into westpac just now to get a screenshot of the offer, but nothing there anymore about the $50 fee waiver. But might be a different offer now as I see now extended... to 31 March 2021. Oh well. Wont complain (because I didn't get a screen shot when I applied) but if I get charged the $50 fee, when does that appear? Also noticed only .5point/$1 spend! Won't be spending much over $3000.

and now also has Velocity points as an option, not sure if that was the case when I applied a few days ago.

Still haven't received my points. Met minimum spend on November 18th, so more than 12 weeks have passed per the T&Cs. Have lodged a complaint.

Keen to apply for this for 75k and no fee first year, my 12m exclusion period lapsed just over a month ago. The only thing that makes me hesitant is that i just opened an equivalent St George within the last 3 months, and they are essentially the same bank. Hope westpac doesn't have silly exclusions like citi where anything within 3 or 6 months results in instant rejection. Has anyone tried opening St George and Westpac in quick succession previously or am i overthinking it?

Yes I had no problems getting approved for St George and Westpac Platinums in a short timeframe. I hope this helps ;)
