I am still using the Amex part of this card to get the family to England and the US. The point and a half on Kris Amex still works a treat. The Visa version is no longer in either of my two wallets. That was replaced by Citi Select for Kris points.

I also kicked mine into touch today after being offered the next year for $125.Was also told that lots are canceling, sounds like they are running it down.I have literally $millions in loans with Westpac but was only offered the abysmal Altitude as a free card for having a professional package

Not a great spender like many of you here - you should have it to spend it :lol:!

But when I called to cancel, was only offered fee reduction to $125, so completely cancelled it.

Going back to Amex Platinum.

When I rang and canceled they stated that many cardholders were cancelling for the same reasons as me....ie the devaluing of FF points earnt on VISA.

They also stated that they were the same as all other VISA /MC now at 0.5...whereupon I stated that Citibank. Everday rewards all had cards with double or more the earn...

I Stated that if they wanted my business back that they would need to get competitive again.

Well, whats their answer when you qoute Citibank's offer? I was using citi gold but changed to Westpac krisflyer platinum in 2009....lucky that they waived my annual fee for this year, my last year spending was only 39k.

They are not willing to up the points.

My Westpac KF card was already free...but at 0.5 is useless.
My free for life Citibank Gold earns at 1.0 and transfers at 0.66 to SQ.

Given the current promos will get my wife the 60K for $125...an maybe the Citigold Bus for either her or me...with bonii sign on as well and an earn of 1.25.

I can still remember when ANZ was the market leader. Now you would say Who??Westpac Visa version of this card is back to being close to useless seeing Woolworths and Citi are double the rewards.Citi can get you either SQ or QF points....it is your choice.

My renewal is 11th of this month so just called the customer service to ask about my voucher I haven't revived from WP for the 1 year renewal. As in previous posts I have been assured by the phone monkeys that I will be receiving it as I was already a member before it was taken away. Once again had it confirmed, and he even put me on hold to check that it would be arriving on the date.

I am now thinking of switching cards down to a Gold from Plat, due to the cheaper annual fee and from what I can see the only diff is losing the 1.5 points on Int. spend vs 1.0 Int spend on the AMEX. Is there anything else more obvious I have missed besides the insurance/warranty cover being shaved down a few months?

Also wanting to work out if I am still entitled to the voucher if I switch I was told 'no'.

So basically pay $125 for the 50% voucher does it seem worth it?

The Amex Platinum Kris Flyer card remains a core product for our Perth to Europe and Los Angeles in a style we love. We have 2 Amex cards to run up enough points to fly 10 to anywhere. The Visa card is out of use until Westpac stops being miserable

Westpac also have a Platinum Altitude - Visa/Amex.
the Amex side of things earns 3points per $1.00. Visa 1/1

Transfer rates are different for a couple of the different airlines.
$295.00 per year.

i don't want to transfer to Qantas at all,but to many of their other airlines that partner with Altitude/Westpac. the fact that i have earned 1/2 million points since December 2010 due to business spending makes this seem pretty good. most of my spending is on the Amex (including quarterly BAS) so this is pretty good for me.

Hi everyone! I have a quick question. I am being billed $250 annual fee atm and I am going to fly on SQ (MEL-SIN). I read somewhere that there are double miles for purchasing tickets at SQ tickets. I think I am not going to go for the WP KF card going forward due to the poor visa earn out rate. Can I purchase the tickets now (travelling in 4 days time) and then cancel the card 2 days later? Will I still get the double miles? Cheers

Why not try negotiating the fee so you don't need to ask the question? The Amex part of that card still gets you 1.5 points a dollar but the Visa is poor as we have said. I would think you may get a half priced renewal with a bit of luck.

If you cancel the card before the end of the statement cycle, then no you will not get any points.

I am planning on booking 4 tickets to Europe return using KF points - If I pay the taxes via WBC KF Platinum does that provide travel insurance for that flight - the time away will be about 4 weeks.

If not, alternative cards that I have include

AMEX Platinum Edge
CBA Platinum Visa/Amex
Citibank Platinum

Many thanks for help

Does anyone know whether they'd still offer you the bonus gift of the extra % of online redemption bookings voucher that was supposed to come after your first anniversary with this card? We've had the card for more than 2 years now, and never received anything!! I was thinking the first time round it might have been because our fee got 'delayed', rather than waived, for a few months. But that time has well and truly passed now and still nothing. Wondered how late these might have still been offered?

Did you recieve an answer to this? I booked a KF redemption earlier this year on my WBC KF Gold and paid the taxes associated with the booking, but have since cancelled the card. I am about to purchase extra travel insurance for my trip later this month but I'd be curious if to know I was covered if I hadn't cancelled.

According to the terms and conditions, the total cost of the flights (excluding taxes, airport charges and travel agent charges) must be paid for using the card by one or a combination of the following:

- charging the amount to the card
- redeeming frequent flyer points earned on the card

The catch here is that if you haven't earnt all of the points on the card that you have redeemed for the flight (for example, if you had some in your Krisflyer account earnt from a previous flight), you won't be covered (at least that's my read of it).

In my experience the vouchers were available through the online booking process even though the paper voucher didn't arrive until much later. When it did arrive it was included with my statement as an additional page.

For the two vouchers I received I didn't use either of them. They didn't prove that useful for me.

Certainly worth taking up with SIA but you may have issue as the time has passed for redemption.

Thanks for the info.

Do you mind clarifying for me about them being available for you online? I have looked at some dummy bookings recently and hadn't noticed anything... but not sure if there is a 'right' spot to look.
Once I've explored that avenue, will definitely look to take it up with SIA/Westpac if I can.... Didn't think it would be of much value previously, but with the wife looking at a family wedding trip to Germany next year, could be very handy!
