So, just had a very interesting call with one of the guys @ Plat help line, his name was Simon. He knew the product back to front and from the following info I am listing has also spoken to several people about the 25% voucher.
Went through asking where my voucher was, he said as per the letter that was sent out December 2010 I should have received it already. Went through with him and checked 3 statements, Nov 2010, Dec 2010, Jan 2011 on the internet banking (PDF version) and checked the code wasn't listed there. Assured him the code wasn't listed on my Kris Flyer account details either, never received it as part of my paper statements or in Kris Flyer website.
He said this was one of the main reasons SIA stopped the whole voucher thing all together (could be the truth or just a cover for the money they might have been losing?). Some customers were only receiving the paper voucher, some only the electronic version and some like me received nothing at all. This could explain why some of you have received it, or been given a code or some none at all. Some people were even receiving the paper voucher + electronic version but with differing dates on each such as 6months expiry vs 3 months expiry (I think there are some comments in this thread about this already?)
He said the plan was that after the first vouchers were given out, the next anniversary date SIA were going to do another type of 'deal' and keep changing it every 12 months. Such as other booking incentives, bonus points, other partner discounts etc. Assuming because of the problems with this first round of vouchers they have scrapped the plan all together.
I asked him would they be re-instating something similar or trying again he said he didn't know. He then also explained that the earn rate from just the Altitude Plat converted to SIA was the same as the KF card now but the insurance was better on the KF. Both still through Zurich but the details with the KF were that if the ticket was bought for a partner/child traveling alone they would still be covered by the card insurance. With the Altitude rewards card the card-holder would need to be part of the traveling party for anybody else to be covered.
After all of this he told me there was no record of the 3 other times I have called asking about the voucher. I called about 2 weeks ago even!! After explaining how many times I had called and that each time was told the same story "voucher will be given at anniversary date" was actually not true. He then said he would escalate it up the chain for me and to expect a call from a resolution group within 48 hours. Assured me then he did add notes to my account about our conversation + reference code
Assuming the vouchers are gone forever by now, he made a few comments along the way that he would try and get the points for me added to my account, about 25k, mainly for the false info I have been given in the past with relation to this. Hopefully it happens or I assume they might waiver my annual fee I have just been charged. Leaving for Canada tomorrow night so hopefully they call before then, otherwise will report back when I return home and follow up with a call or get a letter in the mail.
