Westpac Singapore KrisFlyer Credit Card

For the two vouchers I received I didn't use either of them. They didn't prove that useful for me.
Ditto that.

Jeez I make a dozen J redemptions a year on SQ - I cannot for the life of me work out how I can get any value at all out of the voucher I have here - nigh on useless - unless you wanna travel cattle class.

Thanks for the info.

Do you mind clarifying for me about them being available for you online? I have looked at some dummy bookings recently and hadn't noticed anything... but not sure if there is a 'right' spot to look.
Once I've explored that avenue, will definitely look to take it up with SIA/Westpac if I can.... Didn't think it would be of much value previously, but with the wife looking at a family wedding trip to Germany next year, could be very handy!

I held the Gold card for less than 12 months and received the paper promo code when the changes where made. I then logged into my KF account and noted I could use it when booking with miles, it was in a drop down box IIRC. I used the code, then cancelled the card a few months later.

Edit: Further to the two posts above.. I used my promo code for a cattle class redemption. Actually taking it later this month!

Well I thought the voucher was quite good when I discovered if you booked for multiple people it was applied for multiple people so I ended up getting much more than the 25K benefit (in my cases 4 times for me for a one way trip and then 4 times for my wife getting back). Not sure if this still works though.

Have you seen the voucher to be applied on the new SIA website? It used to be there on the old site but now I can't see it when making dummy bookings although it is still should be valid?

Sorry can't help you there, I used the voucher before the new site went live. FWIW the old site was much easier to use!

Would love to know exact details of what you achieved as it seems clear in offer that promotion applies to 'one Economy class redemption' of 'upgrade your seat on any Singapore Airlines flight'.

When you go to book on the new website, underneath where it has the tick box "Kris Flyer Redemption" it has another line of text hotlinked saying "use promotional code"
I would assume this is where you put in your voucher 'code?' when you recive it to get the 25% reduction

I have just been slugged my $250 annual fee but no sign of the voucher in the mail, first time I will be receiving it also. I have made two calls recently to the contact center and been assured I will be receiving it. They better hurry as I'll be booking a flight in December!

So, just had a very interesting call with one of the guys @ Plat help line, his name was Simon. He knew the product back to front and from the following info I am listing has also spoken to several people about the 25% voucher.

Went through asking where my voucher was, he said as per the letter that was sent out December 2010 I should have received it already. Went through with him and checked 3 statements, Nov 2010, Dec 2010, Jan 2011 on the internet banking (PDF version) and checked the code wasn't listed there. Assured him the code wasn't listed on my Kris Flyer account details either, never received it as part of my paper statements or in Kris Flyer website.

He said this was one of the main reasons SIA stopped the whole voucher thing all together (could be the truth or just a cover for the money they might have been losing?). Some customers were only receiving the paper voucher, some only the electronic version and some like me received nothing at all. This could explain why some of you have received it, or been given a code or some none at all. Some people were even receiving the paper voucher + electronic version but with differing dates on each such as 6months expiry vs 3 months expiry (I think there are some comments in this thread about this already?)

He said the plan was that after the first vouchers were given out, the next anniversary date SIA were going to do another type of 'deal' and keep changing it every 12 months. Such as other booking incentives, bonus points, other partner discounts etc. Assuming because of the problems with this first round of vouchers they have scrapped the plan all together.

I asked him would they be re-instating something similar or trying again he said he didn't know. He then also explained that the earn rate from just the Altitude Plat converted to SIA was the same as the KF card now but the insurance was better on the KF. Both still through Zurich but the details with the KF were that if the ticket was bought for a partner/child traveling alone they would still be covered by the card insurance. With the Altitude rewards card the card-holder would need to be part of the traveling party for anybody else to be covered.

After all of this he told me there was no record of the 3 other times I have called asking about the voucher. I called about 2 weeks ago even!! After explaining how many times I had called and that each time was told the same story "voucher will be given at anniversary date" was actually not true. He then said he would escalate it up the chain for me and to expect a call from a resolution group within 48 hours. Assured me then he did add notes to my account about our conversation + reference code

Assuming the vouchers are gone forever by now, he made a few comments along the way that he would try and get the points for me added to my account, about 25k, mainly for the false info I have been given in the past with relation to this. Hopefully it happens or I assume they might waiver my annual fee I have just been charged. Leaving for Canada tomorrow night so hopefully they call before then, otherwise will report back when I return home and follow up with a call or get a letter in the mail.

So nothing happened in the 2 months I was in the US. No emails, no letters, no messages on voice-mail.

So I called back, this time was given "we have no record of you calling about this". Even after giving the reference number from before it still seemed like a struggle for the call center staff to retrieve the record. Eventually was put through and 'promised' a call back from a CRM. Unfortunately I forgot her name and of course no call back was received when I was told it would happen.

So called again, same issues with no notes on my account, can't see the notes on the reference number. Eventually put through to another CRM, no notes from her other counterpart to followup on my previous calls. Gave her a bit about poor call center performance and the flaws in their system about taking notes, it seems they only 'log' a call about something if they feel it wasn't resolved. If the call was resolved there is no record of it happening it seems.

The new CRM is quite good, has emailed me twice. The first time was to request my original letter stating I would be getting the voucher sent through. She since replied to this telling me to check for the 'online voucher' but I never received this either. Waiting on a reply now.....

Sorry, haven't been on this part of the site for a while. I didn't have that many points to use unfortunately but essentially when my wife and I were playing around with some options to spend point for our family (4 people) we found that the discount was applied per person. I.e. for a group of 4 people if you had 100K points you could have booked 4*50K flights one way and got them for 4*25K. Unfortunately at the times we only had $55-60K worth of points each to play with but can confirm we did get 110K points (each) of travel for only 55K charged and Singapore Airlines did honour it.

Been a bit busy so haven't been able to update

Received an email from the CRM about 2 weeks after re-opening the issue with them again. She offered me a replacement gift of 15k points, citing that voucher due to its nature didn't have an exact point value and 15k was what they thought most people would save each booking. I took the offer :)

You seem to know the product very well, has the card been useful to you in the past compared to lets say an Amex Plat Charge Card ?

Is the voucher thing still around for new applicants?

I wonder what Version to choose, either the KF Gold or Platinum...

Go Platinum.
The cashing a cheque on the day into the card is what I like most and you can go into credit to pay a really large account (if you have a Westpac manager).
I did that yesterday for a chunky amount.

I will admit I am really not the best person to be giving advice on these types of things. I would say if you are set on this card its a weird choice to go between Plat/Gold, really comes down to preference. I would say go with Gold as its cheaper and the rewards that you get from Plat are really only targeted towards certain groups. I don't have any use for most of the services, Gold still gives you travel insurence as well. The only thing I can think of would be the travel insurence is slightly better / higher claim threshold / excess compared. But you would really need to read the fine print on both cards. I did do a comparision myself a while ago and worked out there was no point me being on the Plat another year, the only reason i stayed was because the phone-monkey told me I would need to, to make sure I got the voucher (read other posts)
There is no more voucher, even for new members. Its basically rules out the reaosn for getting Plat for a lot of people I would say

There are other cards to consider, there are a lot of posts here and in other threads about Citi Bank Plat AMEX? having the same earn rate as the KS Plat? Somebody more experienced will need to help you there sorry.
I'm also interested thou, I will be looking for another card around August this year to switch too

This post five months after the previous one. suggests to me lack of interest in Westpac's co-branded card. and for good reason...the reduction of FF miles on the Visa card. At one time, I was getting over 100,000 miles a month (highest was 154k). Today's post to my SQ account was a paltry 220 points! Yep, two hundred and twenty. I'm using my CitiBusiness Gold Visa and Jetstar Visa cards. And happy to use them.

I have never used the Visa since the points downgrade. However the AmEx still proves useful.

3x miles per dollar on SingaporeAir.com and waived annual fee is not to be trifled with.
1.5x on general spending is still okay, and no points cap, which would appeal to some AFF members with larger spend levels than me.

It's still a good product, but not as fantastic as when it started.

Yes I still have the WSQ Plat AMEX / Visa - I use Amex for any SQ purchases from Australia - Visa earn rate of 1.5pts for overseas purchases not to be sneezed at either.

I now have Select and it earns 3.33 on O/S purchases - riddle me that one Batman - SQ's own co-branded card earns 1.5pts - Select earns 3.33pts - I know I am a simple man but that just not make sense.

Speaking with the Westpac call centre during the week the CSO has to read up on the Westpac Krisflyer card as "not many people had the card."

Possibly the card is on run out and they are happy to see people move on.

I for one still use the Amex portion.

And I will prolly start to use the AMEX card more also if Cent downgrade pts earn at ATO to 0,5 - that is until Westpac do something similar.
