Westpac Singapore KrisFlyer Credit Card

So I got my Statement today (statement to date 06 April) and guess what it says in the Krisflyer section

Did you know that you can earn 1.5 KrisFlyer miles per dollar spent
on eligible purchases on your Singapore Airlines Westpac
Platinum American Express Card?
In addition, when using your Singapore Airlines Westpac Platinum
Visa Card, you can earn 0.5 KrisFlyer mile per dollar spent on
purchases with merchants located within Australia, and 1.5
KrisFlyer miles per dollar.

Well that's good of them to advise me I'm going to earn 1.5 points again, I can see a letter to FOS coming on in just over a months time. How crazy is that, did they forget to update their statements. Will stay quiet of course for now, the longer they take to fix again the more ground I have for a complaint later!

Yes I noticed that on my previous statement also burmans but it has disappeared from most recent statement received on 12th Apr.

Thoughts from my learned associates here on AFF.

With Amex earn on this combo dropping from 1.5pts/$1 spend to 1.25pts/$1 spend - what are intentions of holders going forward - in particular those that hold Prestige also?

Prestige has effective earn 1.33KFpts/$1 which outstrips the WSQ Amex earn except on ATO spend. But what to do - how obvious is it going to be and how long before Westpac take action if one was to use the WSQ Amex solely for ATO spend?

I have religiously used the AMEX wherever possible in past to get a reasonable mix of ATO / non ATO spend - so should I continue down this path in an attempt to not draw attention - or shift all non ATO spend across to Prestige - interested in the thoughts of others in this matter.

Things are getting grim enough to consider using the KF Platinum Visa for ATO:
Visa vs Amex is 40% of the miles for 29% of the surcharge. (0.5 vs 1.25 miles per $ and 0.42% vs 1.45% CC surcharge)
Makes sense, but as Cove pointed out most of us are happy to pay a bit extra to accumulate the miles faster via Amex.

YES SQ pts <, @ or ~1c ea bargain IMHO - I cannot get enough of them.

Got my Kris Flyer credit card statement today, and all those transactions that appeared between March 15 to March 31 for my AMEX are calculated as 1.25 miles per dollar, instead of 1.5 miles per dollar.

Did any one have that error on their statement?

My credit card cycle ends on the 15th of each month.

Thanks a lot

Well this card is no longer available to new customers, hope they don't kill off the card soon for existing members.

My April statement points total doesn't make sense and it hasn't been transferred to KrisFlyer either.

You have to call Singapore Airlines Kris Flyer membership department to get the miles fixed up. Very annoying, as Westpac couldn't offer any help at all.

Just had a chat to Westpac card closure section as my annual fee is coming up.
Absolutely NO interest in offering a reduced annual fee.... as expected.

With the current miles earn rate on these cards, ATO is the ONLY reason to keep them IMO. If they stop miles for ATO spend, this is a turkey.

I have to figure out if the ATO miles are worth it for $250 plus surcharges.
I am leaning towards ditching the KF cards (and ATO miles) and just using Citi Sig and Amex Plat Edge for my KF miles

I guess it depends on how much ATO spend you have. Mine is roughly 150k/year.

Any advice?

Dr Ev I think many here in same boat - personally I am just OK with concept 1.45%/1.25pts/$1 - I need the pts so can still justify it - who knows for how much longer though.

I am hooked on Kris Flyer for long haul runs so I am fully onboard so to speak for international.
We have AA,VA,QF and SQ so we can do RTWs if we want.

Yeah but I think your throughput is way higher than $150K per year!

The above promompted me to call WBC myself, because I cant really justify the fee. They did offer to halve the fee which I accepted but I did genuinely intend to cancel (as opposed to just flying the idea) and will probably still cancel next year.

I would like to ask this question again - am the only person currently holding WKF Cards who actually uses the Amex for spend other than ATO?

I have put some other things on the Amex card but I often leave the two cards loaded to pretty close to the limit as I enjoy the system where you can get a free money float for up to $174k based on our two limits. I zeroed all the cards this morning.

No I do, its a good card for general use (supermarkets/fuel excepted) and its the card linked to my Paypal card account as primary.

IMHO this card has really lost it's gloss except for ATO earn - even Prestige at 1.33 KF pts / $1 is better than 1.25 pts / $1 - and I have Westpac Black at 1.5 / $1 for non ATO - but I have continued with WKF rightly or wrongly because I thought if I mix up spend a bit it may not be so glaring as if I used it for ATO only - am I a fool or on the money do you think?
