Westpac Singapore KrisFlyer Credit Card

Well maybe but transfers to Citi always completed within 24hrs if initiated on a weekday - ie transfer at 8am on Fri and funds available for use on Sat - explanation for diff Westpac / Citi other than Westpac just have use of funds for way longer than needed?
Explanation for difference would be easy, each bank have differing systems. Bpay is a daily transfer system (some do it twice daily but only once is guaranteed). All Australian banks have different was of treating weekends, some only effectively run a 5 (business) days system. So a payment received after EOD on Friday (I know you initiated the transfer early but its not inconceivable the payment was not received until late in the day) may not be processed until Sunday pm. Other banks do 7 day processing.

That's just Australian banking system for you, particularly a problem over weekends. I've currently got a similar issue on a Health Fund payment, initiated from within the health fund system, while it was acknowledged (and even given a payment reference) the balance has yet to update, Amex and Citibank where money sent Thursday/Friday has yet to reflect in the receiving organisation. In fact when I know its a weekend I usually arrange to send money early.

As I said I dont particularly like this but I do recognise that Ive been warned and work around it. I believe there is some work about to start on a real time settlement system (or maybe near real time) that would solve this. Incidentally Australia is far from alone in this, many if not most countries have the same issues.

That is a shocker if its true. Not sure whether it is a good idea to ring the CSR to ask about this.

The T & C looks similar in both July 2014 & April 2015 documents

JULY 2014

15.4 When don’t you earn Miles?

(a) Miles are not earned in respect of the following amounts that may be charged to the Card Account: government charges (other than GST payable in connection with the purchase of goods or services on which you earn Miles); interest and other Bank fees

APRIL 2015

15.4 When don’t you earn Miles?

(a) Miles are not earned in respect of the following amounts that may be charged to the Card Account: government charges (other than GST payable in connection with the purchase of goods or services on which you earn Miles);

More useful to contrast & compare before jumping at shadows IMO

Says no miles earned for government spend.
Is that new?
does that mean the end of this card for ATO payments?

This happens all the time. Pretty much every T&C says this. It's not a reliable indicator of whether or not points will be earned on ATO spend.

Don't jump at shadows.

They all do, because they don't want to give you points for things like deposit taxes like we had 20 years ago.

Just had a quick online chat with one of Westpac CSR. The word is that we continue to accrue points for ATO spend for Krisflyer Amex

Not a good idea to speak to CSRs

Thanks Kimster for ruining it for everyone :(

What I find ironic is the attitude of endlessly debating on changes and the uncertainty around its effects, followed by being antsy on individuals who provide certainty to a certain issue.

My question to the CSR has addressed this problem and provided more certainty on the changes and its impact on others. The simple question I posed to Westpac CSR (amongst a long chat) was whether "there were other cards that awarded points for ATO spend" followed by "listing the cards that westpac offered". Nobody is dumb to ask the straight question as to "whether Krisflyer Amex continues to award points for ATO spend".

Looks like some individuals just like to get antsy. Each to their own - I wouldn't bite the bullet next time with this experience.

Mods: fell free to delete the post if found inappropriate

Past experience had taught us that, if you call and ask these sorts of questions, CSR may confirm with their supervisors. One or two people do it, and the question will get filtered up, then the benefit will be cut. Hence these sort of situations are best left for us users to work it out.

Which is why you see so many posts are talked in such cryptic, to avoid people doing exactly what you just did (bank in the rural area, certain color cards etc).

Could not help myself so this afternoon I paid 2 chunks of ATO to get the last of the 1.5 points on the Amex version of this card.

Generally this has been understood to mean 'spend' like vehicle fines, , registration.

Here's hoping it doesn't include ATO.

Since the card has now been canned I guess NFC won't be coming to the Amex card?

Between Citi Prestige and these cards our Kris miles are in good shape. A net 1.33 miles per dollar on the Citibank Visa card is working well but not on ATO.

CE is that the ginger Pauline you are mentioning? Is she back doing fish and chips?
