What changes would you make to the Qantas Booking site?

You can use gift vouchers to avoid card fees already and still purchase with your Amex.

Gift vouchers from whom? Are you giving up the cash value of these gift vouchers when you use them to pay the fees?

I would have thought that to encourage people to use their co-branded Amex cards, Qantas (and Virgin) would waive the credit card payment fees.

There are no credit card payment fees on the US carriers, but their co-branded credit cards provide additional benefits such as (depending on the carrier) priority boarding, extra checked bags, reduced mileage awards, priority security screening, no foreign transaction fees. These are on base level co-branded cards, not even the ones which provide lounge membership or in the case of certain AA and Delta co-branded cards, the equivalent of Status Credits based on spend levels.

I would have thought exempting the Qantas Amex cards from the credit cards fees would be a good start...

Which would require authorisation from the ACCC. But why would you restrict it to the Amex cards, and not all the direct credit cards?

...
See the link in post #23 - basically when redeeming gift vouchers for one-way and return bookings, no CC fee is assessed.

e.g. That $1300 international booking becomes $1330 with a CC fee, but is $1250 when redeeming a $50 gift voucher for a net $1300.

The site looks pretty, but often works like it was coded by high school kids.

Just had another "wtf !?" ...

Ability to book award/ xASA mixed class one way / return journey, eg AKL-SYD Y, SYD-DXB, PE, DXB-LHR J, without the penalty a multi-city booking carries.

Get rid of mixed class awards, unless points adjusted to suit (yes I did get caught by this before QF made it more obvious on the selection page).

cheers

Not sure if people have discussed this before but a number of things really irk me about the restrictions and lack of ability when making flight bookings.

So to start (and hopefully RedRoo will find this thread interesting)

Ability to book (online) multi class e.g. premium economy to Dubai, economy from dubai to London
Ability to purchase (online) comfort seat e.g. Purchase 2 economy seats and and 3rd as comfort seat
Ability to select Seats during online booking rather than after through My Bookings
Ability to view bookings and have options and prices for upgrade e.g. return ticket Mel - LAX booked in PE, upgrade prices to Business for inward, outward and both journeys.
THESE options would be so useful - researching my next break away i found that AA allows me such options - IMO QF is loosing business because we can't book multiple OW flights with them - i really want to do multiclass - i am older today than i was yesterday and i only want part travel up a class

Allow me to go back and modify the search using the "back" button instead of dumping me onto an error page.
Please, this. This is the most annoying thing ever, and is really quite a bad bug from a developer's point of view which should be fixed asap.

It sure is, driving us all crazy.

Overall maybe someone could do a list of all these improvements then rep Red Roo could pass them all along to management:D

Sure why not. But then Qantas would be giving up on a rich stream of extra fees and I doubt that it would happen

Move the feedback thingy from the right hand side of the page, it is too close to too many fields. The 'drop down' menus at the top of the page are very sensitive and come down when not required.

List if you've accepted a DSC and the timing so you know when to book extra flights.

A few mentioned already, however here's a few on my wishlist:

- Ability to select seats before you pay for the booking (I will often book a flight only if row 4 is avail)
- Removal of FF flights where the entire trip isn't in the class you searched for.
- Ability to toggle off Jetstar from appearing in search entirely.
- Ability to have multiple classes on the same booking like PE one way and J on the return.
- Ability to book all oneworld/partner carriers. Like an 'advanced search' with many flight options.
- Ability to change departure cities and travel class from the flight selection page.
- The site should save my last search if I go 'back'.
- No card fees when booking biz/first tickets.
- Ability to pick and mix your own flights without it blowing prices out (eg: ability to select QF9 to dubai then QF2 to LHR)

Additionally I'd change the way seating works so that you can't select a seat next to a higher status member if there is another open seat with someone at equal or no/lower status available.

I'd like the site to be able to be customized using a "preferences" function.

For example:

1. I'd like both a visible and audible warning (and preferably a screen lock) if I am about to select a flight that departs prior to 9.00am
2. I'd like an image of Miranda Kerr as an optional background.
3. I'd like a warning to pop-up and state "why would you purchase this fare when there is a far, far cheaper fare on Tiger available"
4. I'd like a popup with a grovelling apology from Qantas on each award booking stating, "Even though we think we are clever for gaming the system so that Fuel Surcharges are not part of the operational cost, we'd like to apologise for being a bunch of coughs". (Ditto for CC charges)
5. I'd like Alan Joyce's mobile tel number to be listed in the "Contact Us" section.

Additionally I'd change the way seating works so that you can't select a seat next to a higher status member if there is another open seat with someone at equal or no/lower status available.

I read this to mean that high status members are not the type of people anyone would want to sit next to. But I suspect that was not your intended meaning (tongue-in-cheek or not). ;)

Happy to send through a list to Red Roo :) Whether RedRoo is happy to recieve it is another question ;)

It'd be nice to be able to save a few standard searches in my FF profile and select them using radio buttons rather than searching from scratch each time. CBR-Christchurch return, CBR to Brisbane, CBR to Hobart...

Thanks willjd! While I've been keeping a close eye on this thread for the benefit of our QF online team, your synopsis is very well set out and will make it easier for me to share these comments with other parts of our business that also will benefit from this feedback. :)

Please add to the list a 'Keep me logged in" option, so I don't have to enter my pin every time there is 5 minutes of inactivity.
