What cheeses me off

WWouldCMO is if I bought a weekly ticket (I don't, rarely buy them) and someone buying them like you do, wins!
Buying a ticket doesn’t statistically increase your odds you know! :) So my buying 4 tickets a year doesn’t increase my chances of winning, nor of yours of course.

WCMO at school was probability. I could never wrap my brain around it.

WCMO...
People who talk at normal volume in hotel corridors at 2am. That's what!!

'What time is check out tomorrow?"
"I dunno, 11am?? But it doesn't matter as we have to leave for the airport at 9.."
"Really, why did you book us on such an early flight. We are supposed to be on holiday.."etc etc

Evidence that the majority don't pay off in full or exceed the minimum payment? If the case was that most people default on their credit cards banks would get out of that business as they would be losing money.
Apologies as I'm not targeting you specifically but there are quite a few people who only look at life from their own perspective and convenience.

Credit card debt is a huge problem. I need to check but I'm not sure if that is 54% of credit card users have accumulated debt or 54% of the general population. Note there are many that don't have credit cards. Either way we should be doing something to help them not simply saying they got themselves in that mess they can get out of that mess. I can assure you that once in debt it's impossible to get out. I know first hand.

Most people don't suffer from depression. Why are we going out of our way to help those with depression? We should do the same with those in trouble with debt. Don't give them ready access to places where they can lose money. Gambling is evil and yes I do realise a small percentage of gamblers can control themselves.

Here's another thought. If not for accumulated credit card debt raking in millions a day you wouldn't get it so easy using a credit card and accumulating points/miles. If everyone paid their credit card in full each month there is no way you'd have rewards programs and the transaction fees would not be 0.49%, 0.99% or 1.99% on each transaction. They'd be much higher and probably to the point where using credit cards would not be worth it if surcharges were 5%-10% on each transaction.

We do not do enough to help. We can help. We have to help.

From the article, that is 54% of the adult population, or a little less than 11 Million.

Partly tongue in cheek, but that part of the ins and outs of plus/minus of maths does "my head in".
Its all that branches of mathematics, (geometry, or algebra, trigonometry, calculus, ...)
Though, some people must understand that sort of thing.
Not sure of the exact x and y, but some combo seems to work, for those who are good at it to understand the equation.

They will also slam their room door as loudly as possible to ensure they wake up everyone.

So those paying interest on credit card debt are a clear majority as many adults don't own credit cards?

Either way it's sad that we sit back and do nothing to help.

When you smell ciggie smoke from a hotel that is "supposedly" smoke free.
When you are water wise in a hotel, but you hear someone has left their hotel room tap running all night.
When your next door hotel room neighbour decides its ok to play doof doof vibrating music all night.
When you have the do not disturb sign on your door handle, but some muppet kids feel its fun to knock on your door and run off.

Either way it's sad that we sit back and do nothing to help.

Trouble is the whole ponzi scheme that is the economy is predicated on people consuming things they don't need and shouldn't really want.

It's multifaceted, could further regulate cards and banks or start brainwashing people (or de-brainwashing people) into thinking they don't need things they don't really need.

I mean just look at some of the rubbish promotion of things under the guise of reality television - I'm talking things like The Block, Better Homes and Gardens and the ilk, and overlay that with Bragbook type pressures on social media. Makes people think they are not good enough if they don't have the latest and greatest TV, or nice modern design furniture, or have renovated their kitchen to look like it's straight out of magazine etc or have taken a trip to XYZ overseas, or wearing that latest and greatest clothes. And not too mention the ridiculous addiction a vast chunk of Australia has with barista made coffee*. Trouble is if people don't have this pressure and want to spend like this, lots of jobs disappear.

Either people are resilient enough to ignore the constant pressure, can afford it so it doesn't matter, can't afford and spend the money anyway and get into a mire of debt, or don't spend and start feeling inferior and depressed. I supect those in #3 and #4 outnumber those in #1 and #2. Anyway, that's my rant for today.

* says this as a non-coffee drinker :p 🤣

So true. The biggest con job in history and they've managed to pull it off? How?

You do not need to be one of the first with new gadgets.

You do not need to upgrade your gadgets just to have a new gadget when the old gadget is perfectly fine.

How did they manage to trick people into thinking "I do it because I can"? Silly. This is why the mega rich are getting richer and were getting nowhere fast. And now they think they can tell us how to live our lives.

WCMO is when you arrive at the office head to your favourite cafe for your morning coffee fix only to find completely new staff (looks to be a change of ownership) and find that the newbies cant make a decent coffee and service is now at a snails pace.
