What cheeses me off

Please don't tell me you put everything in a dryer - nothing like clothes dried in the fresh air - now about to go bring in the fresh smelling towels and put out the sheets
Nope I hate dryers - we have a drying cabinet and clothes racks - we uprooted the Hills Hoist 10yrs ago

After living in apartments with no outdoor space and a dryer the only option for 20+ years, moving into a house this year - the first thing installed was a clothes line. The smell of sun dried linen just cuts different.

We still have a dryer for rainy days.

I'm very lucky that I've got an apartment that has a clothesline outside - I've got a big balcony at the front and a small courtyard at the back with the clothesline - it was a big selling point when I purchased it

I try not to judge people as I can’t know their life experiences.

I always help people begging in the street if I can. I wouldn’t do that for any money.

I am a smoker and like many smokers will always give a cigarette to anyone who asks. And yesterday after buying a carton from the supermarket I gave a packet to a street person.
and I like to patronise cafes that have “pay it forward”.

I have a friend who gives free haircuts and manicures at a drop in centre once a month.

I've just had two lots of visitors that said I was the best hostess - next lot arrive in 10 days.
Ours have all gone now too @VPS but the question arose (after last laundry load) bit OT but would we rather be guest or host......I voted for host, same for Mr Flyfrequently.

Agree re sun dried linen
Fortunately with sea change have lots of labd and a fabulous huge old style line at least 7m x4 long that can be hoisted v high so can fit 7 sets of bed linen easily. The afternoon sea breeze and sun is wonderful. The previous owners thought of everything though - there is a wall mounted indoor clothes line in the double garage for wet days and a laundry as big as most bedrooms lined with cupboards etc and I have a clothing rack in there I dry clothes on hangers. Also the emergency dryer in garage.
Wonderful for a clean freak like me.🤗

Absolutely would rather host than be a guest. I can retreat to my bedroom and ensuite if I'm feeling stressed and have a lie down. Thankfully I don't have people to stay that don't understand that I can be peopled out and don't get upset if I say I'm just going to lie down and read my book and chill for 30 minutes

I'm a clean freak too and that is an amazing clothes line - slight envious 🤣

Hey - understanding the host’s needs is mandatory. If they don’t get it they don't get invited back. We do get lots of guests as the house is size of small hotel but plenty of areas to get away if needs be🤗

Sometimes you cannot give enough.

Having a drink after golf yesterday in Pattaya and see a man pushing a wooden cart in front of golf bar with his son sitting inside. Not sure what's wrong but boy looks to have quite a few issues.

Tears in my eyes. Feel sorry for boy and dad. Life can be so cruel.

We were guests last week. The hosts did exactly as you did. But as we weren't staying that particular night we had nowhere to escape to ourselves. I just wanted to go to sleep for a bit. Got quite down actually. The two males were watching 10 year old I think, Test Matches. Host said to me, 'I thought you liked cricket'. Ah yes. But not repeats of ancient ones.

We don't have a clothes line at all - things either go in the dryer or are hung in the laundry on clothes hangers to dry. Nowhere for a line in the apartment.

Do you have a Balcony ? Considered a drying line there?
We have a small side balcony at the unit ; in the event that I have to eventually live in it, will build a folding line there.

We have small balcony that we keep shutters closed most of the time for privacy. We hang clothes on small clothes line on balcony and drying can be slow.

We do not want clothes drier or dishwashing machine.

WCMO: Self check in and those stupid bag drop contraptions where pax are expected to put their own tag on and then have the bag weighed and tag laser scanned. 😡

1. Most users of the self check in ‘dalek’ take twice as long as seeing a staff member. Then there’s the inevitable faff if you’re part of a group booking, plus inconsistency with status based baggage entitlements.

2. Almost everyone takes twice as long putting tags on because they’re not good at it, unlike actual check in staff.

3. The scanner thing can’t read the tag…

4. A number of the bag drop machines are broken and closed…

And all done so that the airline can reduce staff and therefore the provision of service to their customers.

Thank <insert deity / inanimate object of choice> there are usually still humans available for status check in areas.

At domestic I don't mind the self check in and do not think it takes longer as there is no queueing. Scan phone, collect tag, step away from machine, attach to bag, walk over to bag drop, scan phone, put bag on belt, scans and off it goes.

Not sure the issue with groups, if on one PNR the status pax can scan their phone and print all tags OR passengers can scan their own BP individually.

Leaving SYDd last Thursday huge queue of mostly younger people all with smart phones queueing for assisted check-in whilst those who used self serve were done in just over a minute.
