What cheeses me off

People who pick up after their pooch then drop the bag into my bin. What makes me even more cheesed off is they live down the hill so why not simply take it home and put it in their own bin?
That CMO slightly less than the inconsiderate $#!@^# who don't even bother picking up after their pooch and just leave it in your yard. 🤬

Related - and what I know will be a somewhat divisive topic - WCMO is others dumping their excess rubbish into my bin on collection day (without asking). Just because my bin is on the curb doesn't mean that it's open season on any free space, or that I haven't got anything else to stick in there before the trucks come through and empty the bin. I'm more than happy to offer available space to my neighbours on the odd occasion that they need it. With some neighbours I have a standing agreement (i.e. don't need to ask unless you are needing to use a heap of space), but for those neighbours with whom such agreements do not exist, it's just common courtesy to ask first.

What’s even worse is when your bin gets rejected because what they dumped into it is not accepted for collection.

On the upside, THEIR bin got emptied.

Danny Katz of The Age (SMH) this week had this very question — but the offender left it there. 🤬🤬

He suggests having a sprinkler for the nature strip operated remotely to saturate them both 😂😂
Get @Denali onto it. She'll have a plan for this.

We had a similar issue in a place in the country. The bin would be left on our property front, but we didn't have a fence. It was a green bin. But the plastic poo bag isn't green. I can't even remind MrP of his work in extracting it when he found it - let's say a month supply, without him gagging. Truly revolting. We contacted the council to get them to Instal appropriate receptacles.

Best one on the market, Yard Enforcer® Motion-Activated Sprinkler

Had this in our front yard, caught 2 people outside of 84yr mum in laws bedroom at 3am - never seen a human jump that high before and they ran off, never to return. Installed it specifically for this purpose as the back of hubbys ute had something stolen for it - never saw them again after this.

You bought this from US or is it available in Oz?
Do you think they do one with a nail gun?

Just checked it out and it looks very good @Denali
We knew you (or Scottish dog walker) would know what to do.

Back 4 days in Australia and I was reminded on many occasions how stupid some Aussie drivers are. But today it did CMO.
Young woman in her Ford Ranger. I was in the inside lane of 2 right turning lanes as in a short distance I was going to turn left. I took off before her but she floored it then cuts across the lane markings. fortunately by looking at her when we were stationary I felt this might happen so hit the brakes and she missed me.
But then she accelerates away at well above the signed speed and about 1Km down the road turns right just missing 2 cars coming the other way. Naturally she went through a red arrow.

It pays to read the drivers nearby. Usually you'll be correct.

IMHO the MOST dangerous part of a trip are the first 3 days after getting home and forgetting how stupid Australian (QLD) drivers actually are.

On topic of the road, one thing that CMO, is adjusting to different road rules as a pedestrian.

Specifically you grow up used to this rule (in Victoria), for drivers: "When turning at any intersection (except at a roundabout), you must give way to any pedestrians crossing the road you are entering.", but move to a place (Singapore) where pedestrians have to give way to cars, it's a challenge.

Every night I walk home from the station, on a busy main road I have to be careful for cars turning into the minor side roads off the main road. Trouble is only half of them use their indicators, (#WCMO). Usually you can judge if they are turning, irrespective of indicator, as they slow down, but some brake at the last minute and then turn or turn from 2-3 lanes over -without indicators and you nearly get bowled over. Annoying.

I was hit and run on a pedestrian crossing when I was 9-10. Now I view that the road is for cars, footpath for people. I won't step out onto a crossing if a car is coming with nothing behind. It's polite and better for the environment if it doesn't have to stop just for me. On foot I give all cars ROW on the road, but don't try and bluff me when you want to cross the footpath, that's mine.

Caveat emptor. The old house I bought had a little ceiling damage in one corner of the sunroom. Had a look up on the roof and it all looked ok, the flashing was in place and no broken tiles. Maybe old damage and issue fixed. This last lot of rain didn't produce any moisture in this existing damage but a floor below the brickwork is soaked and 2 floor down in the bar the ceiling is badly damaged and wet. Back out on the roof I see the downpipe from roof above is not discharging onto the tiles, instead coming out of the bend in the downpipe, and running down the wall and behind the flashing. Yesterday I removed the downpipe and fitted a new one. It looks like the blocked downpipe was discovered before sale and instead of fixing it they (builder-owner's builder family) simply drilled 2x4" holes into the top of the downpipe allowing overflow to run into the cavity wall. Talk about cheap minded, mean spirited. Really CdMO

How long go did you buy it?

Retailers always wanting feedback. I take product to counter, it gets scanned. I pay for it and walk out. And then they send a feedback email. It's a transaction. Nothing more nothing less.

I wonder if the data they're after is actually the response rate to the feedback survey request not the results of the survey itself.

My logic? People tend to not really respond if they have a good, average, expected or even somewhat below average transaction/experience. However, if people have a really bad experience they are more likely to take the time to complete the survey. So if all of a sudden your response rate increases from 0.5% to 1.5% it might indicate a problem worth investigating.
