What cheeses me off

I noticed recently my daughters Samsung A15 phone was only charging to 80% through the night and sometimes less. I found Setting to restrict battery charge to 80% and it was set. Daughter must have accidentally set it.

What a stupid setting.

Now my Samsung S21 is doing similar intermittently. I don't have that setting on so not sure why it's stopping short. Very frustrating as I can get through 50-60% very quickly in a few hours.

I struggle to understand some of these features.
Have my laptop set to 'Best Battery Life' - 80% charge

It is likely ike because you didn't have that setting and you phones' battery is approaching the end of its life.

Daughter must have accidentally set it.
Good thing too as the battery will likely last longer with that setting.

Emails from marketers that don't seem to understand that their emails get swiped into spam folder so they email again. And some get personally offended when you don't reply.

Hi,

I apologize for the email again.

I think you might have missed my last email - I understand you're busy

Would you like to see our work samples and learn more about us?

Thanks,

I'm not sure. It's just doing it intermittently. The past few days it's been charging to 100% again.

I've had the Samsung S21 for over 2 years. That's the longest I've had a phone in recent years without it breaking down or me damaging it. Getting close to a new one. Samsung S24 in early 2025 could be the way to go.

I purchased from officeworks 2 x S23FE's last month for $819 each to replace our 4½ year old S10's.

Just set up good spam filters. It makes no difference, or makes it worse if you reply, even if you politely request them to send the emails to the seventh planet, they still send them all the time.

I never reply. Yes I always spam those and have a spam filter but sometimes they just sneak through.

I had one a couple of months ago that was along the lines of...

Dear Gremlin,

You should consider doing <<stuff>> with <<Scammy, scummy company>>. We are delivering great results in doing <<stuff>> with businesses like yours, including Gremlin's Company.

It did, in fact, lead to me contacting them. Unfortunately for them it was to deliver a 'cease and desist' letter as I'd never heard of them, never engaged them and my brand is highly valuable.

And stairs in general. Stop at the top. I keep on walking up and out.
I think it’s worse at airports! How many people get to the top of the escalator, stop dead, stow the retractable handle, pick up the bag by its main handle, and then repeat the whole process when stepping off!

Seriously, you can leave the handle extended and just reach down and pick up the main handle!

Not immediately ‘cheesing me off’ but interesting that many on AFF are quick to jump on media stories where they show the completely wrong plane… yet even supposed travel professionals get it wrong: Fly to exotic Marrakech on points

I went there to find a trip report on RAM’s ATR business class… which it claims to deliver… but the flight is actually a 737, complete with a series of pictures completely getting the aircraft wrong!

Media love to report light aircraft crashes as "Cessna". When you see the images or video it is a Vans, Beechcraft, Piper, or some other low wing aircraft.

This comes pretty close

Its a ballot but your team had to win first
View attachment 407979

And had to pay $12 with no guarantee
They worked out on the radio that it would earn that company or AFL? around $600k just for the ballot. If a certain level membership, AND your team wins then the seat is guaranteed.

Thats exactly right! I didn't think of that.

Lots of things the AFL let happen. Gambling for instance. And It's still the VFL, let's face reality. They must have hated the Covid year that forced them to Perth.

My company email address has reasonably good spam filters and these get through. Yet my personal email address is marked as a safe sender and sometimes they don't even make into the Junk Email folder, just get rejected outright.

No, us Melburnians got over it a long time ago. It was the other States having to accept that their players had to go to Victoria to play a decent game of footy:). And this year's grand final might even have two non-Melbourne teams in it

I remember in 1990 when I was in Adelaide to have my back rebuilt, and on the TV, Port Adelaide had announced that as SAFL were taking too long to sort out their 'stuff' to put a team into the AFL they were going to put in their own team, while keeping their Reserves in SAFL. The TV commentators were demanding the Australian Government cancel the citizenship of Port supporters and deport them - which even as an ardent Aussie Rules fan I thought was a bit much. Roll on the last weekend in Sept.

Actually, I don't care who is playing in the GF, as long as it isn't Geelong 😂. Nah. Go Port Adelaide. We live in Port Adelaide. The locals would love it and mostly they are nice people. Mostly.
