What cheeses me off

I bought a TV for mum and dad at Good Guys last week. Used Latitude Pay so I can pay in 10 instalments.

Payment went through, approved and their terminal crashes. Start back up again but refuse to complete order. They want proof of purchase. Show them payment plan on Latitude Pay but that's not enough. Show them Virgin Money transaction but that's not enough.

They are adamant payment has not gone through. Won't let me take TV. Wait a few days and find out if payment has gone through. I'm going back to Brisbane. They offer to deliver. I'm not paying delivery fee. They waive delivery fee. Who is going to set up the TV? Silence

I put payment through one more time so I can take TV. As it turns our I now have 2 transactions on Virgin Money. Check Latitude Pay to see 2 payment plans. FFS.

Called this morning. No we can't see payment twice. Can you send us screenshots of the double up? By this stage steam is coming out. FFS. Why am I suffering for your incompetence? You stuffed up and you want me to prove you stuffed up? You are wasting my time.

I'm not happy. The customer service on Monday was woeful. And the follow up is even worse. 2 payments are coming out on Monday unless I send them email and they cancel one of the payment plans in time.

Should I expect compensation? $50 store credit? $100 store credit?

Thank you.

I'm not sure that helps me in this case but I think that gives me some confidence with flights cancelled in 2020.

FYI: Not the same but similar

Three times in the last 10 years I have been double charged on my Visa due to either accidental double swipe, machine hiccup or deliberate attempt at fraud.

Regardless of cause, I found the double payment for the exact same amount on the same day by checking my monthly my statement.

I rang Visa each time and lodged a complaint, they emailed me a dispute form and reversed one of the charges immediately at the same time.

They advised on receipt of the form, they would dispute back to the retailer and there was a sight chance that the charge might go back on if the retailer could provide evidence the charge was valid, but that was unlikely in the majority of cases.

I have never had the charge reapplied.

Brisbane City Council parking

<15m free
20 minutes pay for 30 minutes

Makes no sense. Why can't everyone get 15 minutes free parking a day?

Took our collected empties to the new container return spot at a close by shopping centre. Don’t normally have a great deal to return as we rarely drink soft drink nor beer, so this happens about once every 6 months.
Anyway, this return place needs an app downloaded to your phone (which I rarely carry as I loathe mobiles as well).
Then in a few days your refund will be sent to your linked bank account. Yeah right, as if I trust the ACT government to keep those details nice and secure! :)
I can take the empties to a cash return place but the petrol used probably negates any benefit. I probably should just include the 10 cent refund to the cost of each bottle and put them in the recycle bin. Let the workers at the facility fight over them.
That’s exactly why we take ours to the Jerra shops - you get a voucher for a discount at any Woolies, valid for 3 years and no mucking about.

@Cossie you triggered another issue…’you cannot park here unless you download the parking app’… of course they did this to get rid of the guy who collects the cash —but there are such things as credit cards and why do we have to use a credit card via an app 🤬🤬🤬

Yeah that's a bit of a shock to me too!!
It was bad enough when it was cash-only (I mean who carries cash any more) ... but the local Scout troop insisting you install some sort of money-transfer or whatever app ... huh?!?!

Its a bit reminiscent of that (name escapes me) movie with Michael Douglas where he is fed up with intrusive beaurocra(pp)y and rigid petty rules everywhere he goes. Ultimately all these barriers just drive people away

I guess the opposite of that, where I was uncheesed, was after I'd voted in the most recent federal election and realised I had no cash on me for a Freedom Sausage ... and the P&C had organised a portable EFTPOS scanner-doohickey-thingy, and paying via credit or EFTPOS was simple & quicker than waiting for change.

Cash is the path to the dark side.
Cash leads to change. Change leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering!

Cash does not get affected by its battery, is not subject to internet signal problems or IT issues, does not track every purchase I make and sell my preferences to third parties, does not send you a bill at the end of the month (credit card) that charges interest if you do not pay in full. In short it works. (Banks do not like it because they do not get fees when it is used which increases the cost of almost everything it is not used for).

Carrying cash around is like carrying children around, it's just a vector for disease & death!
