What cheeses me off

I have no problem with people knowing I am donating. Id be happy to do a swipe of my card. But that isn't allowed. I have to install their app, load my credit card details into that app, and only use that to buy a sausage. I rarely have cash on me so electronic suits me best. But not using their app. Having been caught up in Optus now there's no way an unknown app is getting my cc details.
Do you know if it's Bunnings HQ, that Bunnings, or the scouts or soccer club or whatever?

I've not had a Bunnings snag in well over 6 months (no card option then), you make me want to go & get one next weekend now, probably just so I can be outraged. :)

I checked out the sausage sizzle at Bunnings in Frankston today while getting BBQ stuff for tomorrow. They accepted cash, but would accept payment using an app.

I had a couple of Bunnings sausages 2 weeks ago and paid cash.

The one a few weeks before that at a different Bunnings I didn't have cash on me and just tapped the Visa card on the WiFi POS terminal. No app required.

I think its a case of the individual charity itself trying to collect people's details surreptitiously.

I’m presuming - well - I don’t know actually. Maybe a Bunnings requirements of the charity? I havent tried other Bunnings. I’ve clearly gone cold turkey now.

…………………… are elitist entitled private clubs / organisations masquerading as charities and gaining a gig on Bunnings Mentone sausage sizzle roster - looking squarely at you Brighton Croquet Club - FFS - Brighton Croquet Club - a private blue rinse set club nestled in one of Melbourne’s wealthiest suburbs - seriously? Nope they didn’t get cash or CC pmt from us when we saw who they were - plenty deserving charities you can funnel your shekels to so walk on by.

But I've already said this. The irony is that somehow your wishes seem to be more important that the wishes of others. No one is forcing you to use electronic payment, but you seem to what to force others to accept cash.
When did I say my wishes were more important than others?

There's currently a huge push to do away with cash. I'm sorry if you have not heard about it or dismiss is just as easily as saying that covid is like the common cold.

I'm not illogical. In fact Im the exact the exact opposite.

Cash has to remain an option. That's not selfish. That's logical. Even if they have a surcharge for cash as @tgh mentions, cash must remain an option for payment. If the business chooses not to accept cash or imposes a surcharge then that's fine, it means I have the freedom to go elsewhere.

The day digital payments are the only option is the day society ceases to function as we know it today. It's the day we give up our only remaining right of freedom. I'm sorry if you cannot see it that way.

And loading apps is completely fair. The bunnings I go to they have stripe or what ever it's called. No app needed

I have no problem using cash. So yeah, I dismiss your conspiracy theory because it doesn't match my experience.

You've made multiple posts here saying the merchant must be force to accept cash, to match your preference.

Pretty sure it is NOT legal to surcharge for cash in Australia

I did not say you were illogical. I said the thing you've referenced from the internet is illogical. Useless you wrote that illogical nonsense from the internet then your just twisting things around.

I got no time for that nonsense.

We have square I think it is for the business. Very easy transaction for everyone. Not app based.

My history society uses Square to sell its books etc and it’s a great, economical option for a volunteer group. Very easy for the volunteer to use and just a card tap which most people are ready to do. We will take cash, but prefer card as the software does all the stock adjustments, accounting and reconciliations for our volunteer Treasurer.

One thing I only realised when I started using Square is that your email address is stored on your card. After a tap, there is an option for us to automatically send an invoice by email 😊.

…………… are Christmas gifts that I receive - please don’t think I am ungrateful - it’s just that at age 60+ i already have way more of everything that I could possibly want, need or can ever use in the rest of my life. In day to day life if I ever see anything that I desire I buy it on the spot without blinking - I really do not need others buying me stuff I don’t want, don’t need or would never use - yes I appreciate the goodwill intentions - I truly do - but seriously please don’t buy me anything.

Yes. Friend uses The Square for her Indian textiles and jewellery show where I volunteer as cashier for two days. It works very well. We see option for receipt to email and or mobile. I don’t think this is actually on the card but in the cloud details checked by Square. Chissa.

What cheeses me off is that someone forgot to put the bins out before Christmas, and so even before the Christmas Eve get together the bins are already full.

Hopefully the neighbours didn’t forget and have space. But that is another what cheeses me off…

Well @Cruiser Elite you would be a problem for your family. We picked up AA Miles for some of the family. If all else fails you can fly coast to coast in Australia to meet up with whoever.
Have you tried the Xanadu red, Mosswood red and the Cullens red?

Our extended family made an agreement decades ago, no presents for anyone 18 and over.

.... the grubs that use public BBQs and don't clean up.

Yes I do realise the BBQ may have been a spur of the moment decision but cooking, eating and leaving the gunk stuck to the plate is extremely inconsiderate and selfish.

I cleaned, cooked and cleaned again and it doesn't all come off, but at least it's in a decent condition for the next person to use.

The council does come back often to do a proper clean.

What cheeses me off is I;ve formed a view I no longer belong on this site.

I took several months off and recently came back but I am back where I was last time I left the site.

My next five flights for Jan-Feb are with VA, JQ, QF, SG. Selected on the basis of schedule that met my requirements, length of the journey, included extras (e.g. luggage where required) and price and relative previous experiences.

I was keen to include ZL as I haven't flown with them on a 737 but their fares were eye watering for the dates I required. Haven't flown ZL for 10 years and while the last experience was pretty awful, I thought I'd give them another go.

My last 15 flights this year included QF, MH, QR, AT, MS, NP, JQ and RJ.

All of these airlines have let me down one way or another (as have many others) or were at least well below expectations at one time or another in more than 4 decades of flying.

As for AFF, I greatly enjoy some of the threads and the majority of their contributors, particularly the threads that don't involve airlines, (Classic Award help, points collection, chit chat, humour, ask the pilot among others) and to some degree I find that rather ironic

However, scanning across multiple threads and subject areas on a daily basis, apparently to fit in, I am supposed to on these other threads be so wed to a theory that airline xyz is so bad I have to bag them for years on multiple threads, make outlandish exaggerated statements and try and convince other members never to fly with xyz without any form of real life based view of the world.

So unless I am back for some of that invaluable help and the tips and tricks worth their weight in gold that are so generously afforded by some members, unfortunately its time to say adieu and wean myself of the daily dose of negativity pessimism and derision.
