What cheeses me off

I used to enjoy the flightaware squawks and comments on aviation matters, but these days it often is just the bile emanating from the US political schism. Boring.

Having just returned from a holiday in Margaret River, when I am on the beach and there is an exclusion zone around me of at least 10m, and a family/group of lads/girls decide that sitting about 1m from me is the best place on the beach.

Trust me at 50+, grey and love handles not the place to be !!

And when I get home and decide to wander down to my local Bayside beach...it happens again !!

particularly the threads that don't involve airlines
There are so many aspects to AFF.
Im not flying much but do enjoy the banter and the different points of view

One particular thread that keeps my interest, that was not mentioned in your list (which Im sure is not meant to be comprehensive), are the Trip Reports threads. Allows me to live vicariously

I know how you feel.
I used to always get man spread when I book a Y fare, to fly on a flight.
What is it about some people liking to spread their legs wide open while on a plane seat.
Now that I don't fly that often, and VA fares in J are so cheap, might as well go with that.
Or that EDR points are offered so much, esp when Woolworths wants my money, plus that ALL (Accor) has tied in with QFF, and QFF points are easier to amass, I will book J with them once a year.
Tend to fly more with VA though have a Rex J booking, to test them out.

Is it because there's no room for their knees to be pointed straight ahead? Some domestic Y is like that for me, Jetstar A320's I think it is.
There is no way on many Y seats I can put my legs together between the seat in front and mine even if the one in front isn't reclined.

Other than not buying Y 😬 (and domestic I'm am too much of penny pincher for J unless a classic award) I am left with a choice of manspread or sitting sideways and paying for a chiro on arrival if the flight is over 2 hrs.

***Some people like it that hotels don't have tolilet brushes in the toilet rooms, ie, more space, and less ick factor.
I am a cleaner, so I know the ick factor of a toilet brush, esp the one with the plastic bowl that holds that brush, and the "you know what" that lives in the water inside the plastic holder.
Though, I can also see it from the other side, that having a toilet brush and holder there, no matter the ick factor, can in a way, help the hotel, by the "customer" taking/making the effort to brush off their goo if they have had dalhi/bali belly.
Its hard.
Imagine this, that the cleaners trolley would also hold that brush, some cleaners I have seen just toss the brush into trolley, just in a small plastic bag (non hotel situation)...
***One hotel I stayed at this past Dec, didn't have any air cond controls by the door, spent 15 mins looking for the controls, it was a room facing Queen St, Auckland, ie, facing the setting sun, room was very hot, went downstairs, and the girl said, look above the bed head, and lo and behold, there it was.
***QF trying to push people to donate, making it like as if its bad not to put coins into the unused foreign coin donate envelope, ugh
***Very, very, very, very, very, chatty and in fact flirty staff at shops, mmm, mmm...
***Japan having still using 1 yen coins.
***US C&BP (supposedly) being very strict with visitors, and asking thousand questions, on arrival.
Have never visited the states, but watching those youtube videos scares the you know what out of me.
Lots more, save it for later.

My first - and last - trip to US

1988 - had been travelling 3 months in Europe so lots of clothes/shoes (new and old)

At immigration she insists I am a clothing importer - no matter what I said - and I paid my stipend accordingly to the IRS. No matter how much I protested she insisted new clothes = imported clothes. Of course now you would not argue for fear of being deported - or shot!!

I will always remember she did end the transaction with ‘have a nice day’ (obligatory in the script no doubt even if deported)

I guess, heh, it can also be said that our ABF can be tough on "food" brought in, by "Asian" pax.
Our ABF might be a bit more understanding, in regards to clothing, (even if just a smidgen), if that happened to you Martinee., on arrival to Aust.
My last trip, back from SIN - PER, with a tight connection to ADL, yep, that was my first and last one (QFi to anywhere apart from NZ), promising myself now that NZ will be the only country I will visit, easier to come back from to Aust, at PER T1 got all my worldly possessions tested with the drug wand, (T1 at that time, now T3), coming back from SIN on a QF mid afternoon flight, left SIN 7am or so, it was about 2013 or so.
This flight now does not fly, as its only now the evening dep from SIN - back to PER.

Our largest luggage haul was 500kg checked + carry on prob another 50kg on a AUS-USA
How come no one checked our luggage??
Not even the beagle at SYD airport was interested.

I suspect our gear was not of merchantable quality... 🤣

I have friends that as a couple always travel in J or F with 4 x largest suitcases Ive seen plus the largest allowable carryons - and thats on the way out. They ship stuff home that they buy while away. Have no idea what they pack to go away 🤷‍♂️

Minor gripe... checking in at ATH for an Emirates F to DXB.
In the F check-in queue a family of 5 with about 12 cases. Took around 15-20 mins to check them in. Dad couldn't find all the Covid vax paperwork, mum was arguing with little miss about who was sitting where, baby in pram screaming. Good start to the day. Saw them again in the lounge. Made sure I sat as far away as possible.
Meanwhile the F queue is getting longer than the J queue. American couple behind me getting surly. I struck up a convo just to keep the peace.
Surely there's a procedure for handling larger family groups. Turns out the family were flying Y anyway.
Miles different from the F check-in a DXB. Porters take your luggage from the Emirates limo to a dedicated check-in area, no queues, ground staff in a buggy to drive you to the lounge then again to the gate. Amazingly different experience flying the same class on the same airline.

^ 15 slaves are beaten at DXB for each F check-in, to ensure Sir feels important enough.
At ATH the hamster turning the wheel which runs the luggage-conveyor at the check-in counter was on smoko ...
