What cheeses me off

I just don't get it.
I almost had the same.

Toyota dealership service dept
Reversed the Landcruiser into pillar. Smashed the rear tailgate

They offered to repair it. But I was not keen on a dealership doing smash repairs - likely they will sub it to the cheapest shop

I made a claim with NRMA. They said they needed name of driver which the dealership refused to give, In the end NRMA allowed the claim with no excess and no at fault but it took a couple of discussions.
 
Car insurance claim.....................................

So they have the bus rego, the bus route number, the time, the bus company and the contact details of a witness but somehow I am required to provide records of my driving history and provide details of a 5 year old claim that had nothing to do with me just to get the ball rolling.

I just don't get it.
A friend was side swiped by a bus (in NSW) a few months ago and the bus kept going. Her car was bumped half a metre sideways the impact was so great. Fortunately the guy behind (who took down the bus rego) stopped to see she was OK and gave particulars as a witness.

The law in NSW is if a driver fails to stop and provide particulars you must report it to the Police within 24 hours. She went to the Police who queried why she was reporting it (!!!) and she said 'because the law requires me to do so'. She was asked by the Police, who told her that and she replied - 'the NSW Police website'. They took particulars and followed it up with the bus company. who then contacted my friend and provided an incident number. They did not say whether the bus driver was penalised. She had to go through her insurer to get the repairs done because the bus company's attitude was it was her problem.

The insurer was co-operative, and the bus company eventually agreed to pay, so no penalty for her, so she was lucky. She did have to go through the claim process to get the insurer to act.

Got an email from our bank stating that they need me to visit a branch to see my identification so as to be able to keep providing secure storage for our documents. They have only had them for about 10 years.
We were in Fyshwick, there is a branch there we can go to, or there was, now closed. OK, I realise that many branch offices have closed and I can use a post office agency to get cash if needed, however this needs to be done at a branch, so far I have visited 3 times and been told the wait will be at least 20 minutes. Sorry, got better things to do rather than standing in a queue. :(

Yep, same with CBA in Hobart. Wanting to buy some FX; no longer special FX teller, so join the queue. 20-30 mins, get to front, the told no small Euro notes left. :mad:
 
I've been cheesed off for years at the cost of Medibank Private premiums. We've paid so much my new membership card is now a gold one! MrMac has had quite a few health issues in the last 20 years - heart & cancer. Most recently a heart ablation procedure 3 months ago. All well & great results. He did some calcs - since August last year medical/hospital costs amount to $42,000. We are out of pocket about $600. I think we are a nose in front. I've thought from time to time about reducing our level of cover but am just not game. The premiums are a big impost but the thought of chancing the public health system - no thanks

I'm in exact same boat. Top cover, top premiums. At an age when things start occurring more often that you'd hope.

Two years ago I had the first of a series of eye operations - 'just one of those things', not related to lifestyle, could happen to anyone - and the Medibank Private payments for the operations paid for about 12 years of Premiums, not counting what I get back regularly on dental, optical etc.

Also - as I used to work with them years ago I had a policy they dont sell to the public and every time I try to compare to move nothing comes close. When I show my card they pick it up as if it gives off some form of gold dust.

People with no spatial awareness. particularly those walking with their head down reading their mobile phone in a busy area such as an airport without ever looking up.
Even worserer - people walking along the street with ear buds in listening to whatever whilst staring down at phone - they do my head in - just shirt front them I say 👍

And any driver wearing ear buds whilst driving - that should be auto fine same as phone useage

And those taxi / Uber / DiDi drivers who spend the whole trip talking on their mobile phones through ear pieces - again should be auto fine for wearing any earpieces at all

Building on the theme;

People who watch / listen / use their devices on speakerphone in public spaces. Get a pair of headphones already.

Was on a VA2 flight a couple of weeks ago where a guy watched an entire episode of Succession on speaker, 2 rows ahead of me. I mean great taste in TV shows, but far out how annoying. Not to mention completely inappropriate language for the kids within earshot.

(Before I’m asked, no I didn’t say anything, normally I’m completely happy to, but was 2 rows away on the window and just not in the mood to provoke a fight with a brogan. And no the cabin crew did nothing. I don’t know if anyone close to him complained)

IME In airports and hotel lobbies, spatial awareness does not exist for the majority, self awareness neither. Most annoying. I particularly like the groups who dump all their luggage in the foyer doorway and chat oblivious to the need for others to ingress or outgress. I have been known to accidentally run over their feet with wheels.

That's just plain rude. I spent five years as a cabbie and if I got a call from someone I couldn't put off - like the boss or the wife - I'd apologise. The passenger hires the whole car including the driver. If they wanted to yak, they yakked.

Curious as the why? I get its annoying when Uber/Taxi driver does this as you have to listen to their conversation; but if the driver wears them to listen to the navigation that is fine with me.

Also if a driver is alone in their car and chooses to wear ear buds so they can answer/end a call in one tap or listen to music or listen to the google maps directions how does this impact you? Better they are listening than looking down at a device whilst driving.

Today what cheesed me off is lazy people who dont pack their own bags at the supermarket - making wait time for everyone else unnecessarily long. I rarely use a staffed check-out but if I do I unload my items onto the conveyor then line up my bags in the small trolley such that after the check-out chick/dude scans an item I pack it immediately into the correct bag and then have my card ready to tap and pay.

When you dont pack as they scan, the checkout chick/dude handles each item 2-3 times, scan and dumping to the side of the scanner then pick up again to pack, shuffle.

My parents were with me today and they had a lot of items (too many for self serve) but there were only two staffed checkout both with about 5 people waiting at each. The customer at the front a mum (late 30s) and her daughter (about 16) who had a ridiculous amount of items, just stood there browsing their phones, whilst the staff member struggled to bag all their shopping in an inappropriate number (not enough) bags, bags piling up on the counter, as the customer was too lazy to even put filled ones back into trolley to make room, then realised she had enough point for a free fry-pan and instead of paying went off wandering to find one.

I have my credit card and loyalty card ready to go. If I'm in Aldi it's superefficient. Love that place, but I pay with a debit card there.
