A few years back I was standing at the ticket counter buying a ticket for the subway in Shanghai and working out what notes to use to pay for the ticket.

Meanwhile an elderly slender woman, maybe 1/2 my weight, and very much shorter than me, approached the counter, hip and shouldered me out of the way and screamed a demand in Chinese at the seller grabbed a ticket and wandered off as I, stunned, try to process what just happened.
Don't try rationalise it but do the same. It's not considered impolite.

Why do you say that two dogs 😉
Yup. Lemonade - I don't get it 😂

WCMO
Went to Woolworths to pickbup a $500 apple gift card the points from Wooleorths landed in 1 hour but the card didn’t work, left it to the next day then phoned apple, after uploading pictures I then had to upload a 2nd time
Don’t lose anything until the money is there
The envelope
The card
The docket from supermarket to say loaded
The receipt with the credit card details.
Eventually well next day rexeived an email with another code but had to be manually added by apple support
2 phone calls, 45 minutes and 25 minutes and finally there $500 on the apple account
Heard this on Melbourne radio this morning @Bundy Bear , it is happening fairly often.
It has been labelled "scam" with the explanation being somehow the correct barcode numbers are taken/lifted.....

I would say Woolies is very much aware of this, and it was with Apple gift cards.
Glad you have a resolution.

The name Siobhan. It's a tricky one. Best left alone. Sister in Law worked in Emergency and met all kinds of people. She asked one mother her child s name. See oh Bahn was how she said it. SIL asked her to spell that. Siobhan was the spelling. SIL may or may not have said - the correct pronounciation.
Celtic names are tricky.

Little Miss Gremlin has a Celtic name and we've always used the Welsh pronunciation. She has spent quite a bit of time in Ireland where her name is also very common but their pronunciation is quite profoundly different. It took her a while to learn to answer to her 'Irish' name when people were talking to her.

FWIW, even though 'Shiv-awn' is the most common pronunciation, as it is traditionally considered an Irish name and that is the Irish pronunciation, I have met a 'See Oh Bahn' who is Scottish Gaelic.

Of course, 'See Oh Bahn' is also likely to be the correct pronunciation if they're Bogan Strayan.

When I first met my wife in Chiang Mai stayed at a few nicer hotels near the night bazaar. One of these had a dinner buffet but what I didn't realise at the time it was popular for Chinese tour groups. Noisy and extremely rude.

One night I was at the buffet getting food and this elderly lady pushes me out of the way. FFS. I pushed her back. There's more than enough food for everyone.

I'm really glad they have not been back and hope they never return and find other spots to visit.

I got several episodes in China of WCMO.
First was leaving Xian in the early 80s. the airport was chaotic with literaly hunfreds pushing in front of you. I reached my limit. told the family to line up behind me,picked up the heaviest bag and began swinging it in front of me. the crowds parted and we were soon at the check in with no one in front of us. o_O;)
second was at the Shanghai Expo. Huge queues that rarely got shorter because of people cutting the queue. eventually we just entered the queues near the front.

Don't do to China Bar in Melbourne then @JohnK - they are alive and well there!

Data point: My late MIL was born in Hong Kong but raised here, the most gentle polite woman one could meet.

HKer friends born before handover tend to have a much better demeanour and outlook in my experience. (A gross generalisation I know, and not here to offend anyone)

My local Woolies keeps I-tunes cards behind the smokes counter, too many “faulty” ones were being returned. I purchased one from Coles and the bar codes of inside and outside didn’t match therefore unusable. They very carefully slit the bottom edge of the holder then stick it together again with double sided tape.

Hairdressers that want to talk. I just want to have my hair cut. I have my eyes closed - is that not a hint
I had a long appointment last week. Thought we were done with the small talk as the first part was completed. A gap waiting for a product to work, then it was another rinse and time for the cut. She started asking the same questions she'd asked an hour ago. And everything was PERFECT apparently. Except it wasn't. I hated the cut, looked nothing like the photo I'd brought to help, and they eventually gave me the contact details of the one stylist I liked but who'd left after the last cut. Goodbye.

Oh I see this is going to be fun.

So I bought 10 x $100 Coles Mastercards on Saturday at 2 Coles stores. Both managers said Coles do not refund and I would need to contact the number on back of card and ask for a refund, they'll send refund to Coles and then I'd have to go to Coles and receive refund.

So I called the number. There is no way for them to process refund and I'd need to go to Coles.

Huh. Now what? How much time am I going to waste getting back the money they have stolen?

Under the Australian Consumer Law the "Supplier" is responsible for dealing with any defects in a product. The Supplier in the ACL is defined as "someone who sells goods or services and is commonly referred to as the "trader" or "retailer" or "service provider".

Coles, as the Supplier, is required by law to remedy the defects. If it is a minor failure, like the goods are defective and do not work as they should, the Supplier must either repair them, replace them or give a refund, and Coles can choose which remedy they will provide. The consumer has the right to compensation for consequential loss if the Supplier fails to meet one or more of the consumer guarantees. The compensation is the reasonable cost to a consumer of a problem with goods or services.

I suggest you might tell the store manager they are the Supplier and it's legally their problem. They are in breach of the consumer guarantees under the ACL and if they delay resolving the defects then you will be claiming compensation, as permitted under the ACL, and you could suggest you will have grounds for immediate chargeback by your credit card company having tried to remedy the issues with the Supplier and they have not resolved the problem in a reasonable time.

Perhaps tell them you have been in contact with "Choice" and they are interested in the outcome. That is what Choice often tells people to say when they are contacted for advice.

Amazon. Received a parcel on the weekend. It was a box of the magnetic tiles for a Christmas present. It had NO packaging. The large address label was simply stuck on the box - now left with a sticky residue and two other bright orange labels. I've read a couple of reviews and this has happened before.

Now Amazon has banned people from posting reviews about this issue. I can return it for free but my gripe now is the banning of reviews about this problem. I don't have time to take it to parcel drop off and wait for refund and get another one. I've had Amazon issues before doing that where they say they haven't received the product back so no refund.

This is the message when you try write a review.

Sorry, we are unable to accept reviews for this product. This product has limitations on submitting reviews. There can be a number of reasons for this, including unusual reviewing activity.

Needless to say I've accelerated the chat function and am waiting for response. I want the item so will try a light touch of goo remover.
