What cheeses me off

Press conferences. All of them. Political, sport, health and so on. Why can we never hear the questions being asked. Especially important during that C time when we all had questions. All we see is the numpty nodding of the head while the <insert person at the mike> listens. Consequently the answers are out of context or not even in context for the audience. So we play the guessing game - what was the question. And given politicians et all rarely answer the questions It really cheeses me off. Why can't we get this right? Is it rocket science or something?

Interestingly, this is often not the Broadcaster's fault. Some print journalists are of the opinion that their questions are not for broadcast (unless they are paid a fee presumably). That's why Broadcasters hold 'flash' interviews on the side of the field of play immediately after the play finishes and then longer one-on-one interviews from the stand or studio later. Not really sure why they also broadcast the Press Conference, especially, as you say a one-sided 'answer only' conference. Unless it is combined Press Conference, it also takes extra facilities to hear all the questions - not always possible on the road. But for big sport from Tennis Australia, Cricket or Football, it should be possible.

Thanks for that information. If that's the case then I'd argue that in many cases listening to a Press Conference is pretty much useless.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - Ben Groundwater is a prat

He is so sanctimonious about so many things he did and now he says you shouldn't do them

Australians can be bad tourists in Japan. I was one of them

I’ve been one of the bad travellers in Japan. I went on a buck’s trip to Hakuba once, a snowboarding holiday with a bunch of boozy thirtysomething blokes, and we were the exact sort of visitors the Japanese must fear.

WCMO is neither Woolies nor Coles or IGA had any eggs for sale today, shelves were bare.

So means no healthy protein based breakfasts this week.

WCMO more is having to traipse to 3 different supermarkets just to get staple food items. As well as no eggs, woolies had no blueberries, cabbage, cherry/grape tomatoes or individual steaks.

Many stores in Melbourne don't have eggs.
I wonder if the Avian flu is more serious than is being reported?

Eggs occasionally in short supply around me but always obtainable but trying the other half of Colesworth.

Daughter in Cairns reported a while back hadn't been able to get eggs anywhere except local farmers market for a couple weeks.

What was a bit surprising to me is, week before last, I tried 5 shops before I could get a 600ml thickened cream.

One of the country programs was talking about the various restrictions are coming off. So maybe it is just the delay getting the chickens bred up to laying age.

I’m sure I’d heard a while back via the news that the delays in getting supply back to “normal” would be at least 6 months or so (post the destruction of all those egg-laying hens) and was essentially for the reason you’ve just posited.

We don't have H5N1 here in Australia according to the media. Chickens go off laying in the heat. Plus there's the eventual banning of caged eggs so that is impacting many if they decide not to convert. Plenty of eggs in my supermarkets in SA. Even Woolies.

Aus Open WCMO.
1: Arrive with family with great seats at RLA to see Carlos Alcarez today. Four pax in our seats (obviously decided nice bleed seats not as good to see Coco G). However when they sat in the seats in front of us security demanded to see their tix and sent them packing
1. Then I sit. Next to me are two dirty ugly hoofers from guy in seat behind at eye level. Told him in no uncertain terms someone has to sit there - put them away
