Press conferences. All of them. Political, sport, health and so on. Why can we never hear the questions being asked. Especially important during that C time when we all had questions. All we see is the numpty nodding of the head while the <insert person at the mike> listens. Consequently the answers are out of context or not even in context for the audience. So we play the guessing game - what was the question. And given politicians et all rarely answer the questions It really cheeses me off. Why can't we get this right? Is it rocket science or something?

Interestingly, this is often not the Broadcaster's fault. Some print journalists are of the opinion that their questions are not for broadcast (unless they are paid a fee presumably). That's why Broadcasters hold 'flash' interviews on the side of the field of play immediately after the play finishes and then longer one-on-one interviews from the stand or studio later. Not really sure why they also broadcast the Press Conference, especially, as you say a one-sided 'answer only' conference. Unless it is combined Press Conference, it also takes extra facilities to hear all the questions - not always possible on the road. But for big sport from Tennis Australia, Cricket or Football, it should be possible.

Thanks for that information. If that's the case then I'd argue that in many cases listening to a Press Conference is pretty much useless.
