What cheeses me off

Kids running around supermarkets. Today I was in the middle as two 13'ish boys came belting round the end of the aisles from opposite directions, meeting about where I stood. I just gave them a look only an old man can. You should have seen the looks of glee disappear from their faces.

Oh yes. Yesterday I heard this yelling from aisles away. It was like kids yelling. Eventually I caught up with the noisemaker. It was their mother - not yelling at them but just yelling. She had three kids around 5-10 years. And they were ferals. They were running up and down the aisles, opening the fridges and just yelling. Eventually they walked up to the exit area. I looked around as that’s where I was headed to pay. They disappeared. Didn’t see them again. Did they pay? Hmmm.

I am an instruction book reader!
(Oh dang, I was a teacher for 25 years)
I, too, am an instruction book reader.
Neither a teacher, nor a librarian.

I recall once resorting to tech assistance for some appliance, and beginning my spiel with "I've read the manual, front to back, but....."
And the tech interjected:
"Oh, YOU are the one who reads the manual!" 🤣
