What cheeses me off

WCMO when a venue changes recipe for what was an awesome dish to be for the worse.

At pub trivia tonight and the bistro has always done an awesome beef & guineas pot pie with mashed potatoes.

Order it tonight to find the pie filling riddled with disgusting celery which needs to be picked out and the grant very back peppery.

Guessing a change of chef, for shame.

I am in the Qld floods, in Cairns, but no problems personally and very little around here in general except for no way in or out by road.

The NBN died on Mon or Tues, so did 5G, everyone switched to mobiles so 4G was overrun and useless as well. It was fixed before lunch so a tiny problem compared to Ingham. But even that...the only way to find why there was NO bloody internet was to get ON THE INTERNET and use the outage finder.

I was not at the shops for groceries, anyone with a brain knows there is nothing left the second the BOM issues an alert. It really shows what a basket case our country is that one flood, (or cyclone, fire etc) and half the population would starve in 3 days, run out of power and not be able to wipe their own ....

It doesnt matter how much cash you have or what grade of metal your plastic is you cant buy what is not there on the shelf. Home delivery and pick and collect are out too. This time there is no road left to get stuff back on the shelf but...gonna be interesting next week.

Unfortunately their vehicle is positioned in a way that makes that impossible, I can't get the stakes under the car (and wouldnt want to be liable for damage).
I'm sure the stakes would get through the windows just fine, though :)
Maybe a polite note in the letterbox or attached to their windscreen advising of a request not to park on your verge in future, and also advising of your intent to rope off the area in the hope of regenerating the lawn damaged by their vehicle once they have kindly moved it. Also you could cheerfully advise that at this stage in the interests of being neighbourly you will not be contacting the council to report their misdemeanour 😠
Very passive aggressive, that's the last thing I'd suggest.

I had cuy (guinea pig) in Peru. Didn't like it. Odd combo, beef and guinea pigs!

Had flying fox in Espiritu Santo in 1982. Very strong flavour. We were deco diving on the wreck President Coolidge.

Paying cash is my preferred method just to enjoy how much hassle it causes. But hey it always works when the internet isn't ! Ask the people in the Qld floods at present.
No cash could be the biggest mistake in history if they ever manage to get that through.

I stumbled on their plan in the 90's and it becomes clearer by the day.

- You will own nothing and be happy
- we will disrupt supply lines
- we'll get rid of cash for your own benefit because we need to know how much you earn and where you spend it

Booked AY J BER-HEL-HKG CR on QFF points a few days ago online.

I want to change CR ticket to a later date when the date I wanted became available. QFF online shows that It is available on J all the way to HKG. It is also confirmed as available at AY online.

However, if I try to use the Change functionality on "Your Booking" to change the dates of my ticket, QFF online only listed BER-HEL available in J, but HEL-HKG only Y available. Yes, the dreaded asterisk on the J button. I thought it was a mistake but when i proceed with it, it did list HEL-HKG was Y only. So I cancelled the change.

When I called QFF, it goes to Fiji call centre and they said they cannot see the AY J seats at all. I already HUACAed and same result. I cannot get to Hobart as I am just a QFF NB.

I thought about cancelling and rebook but too scared that by the time I get my QFF points back to rebook, the seats I wanted would be gone. I don't have enough QFF points to book the later date itinerary without cancelling existing one.

With the recent QFF call centre performance record, I decided to stick with my existing booking. Just too scared to change. But I am so frustrated by the terrible QFF IT system.

Understand. I want to link an international Award flight with a paid for domestic flight. But, I don't trust the phone system to not mess up the entire booking.

Is that even possible?

As an aside, I was quite pleased this morning when a non-HBA agent easily added a CX intra-Asia CR sector to my existing QF J CR HKG-SYD. New ticket turned up shortly after.

WCMO is when some backend snafu didn’t automatically ticket a new booking made last night using a CV and one of the sale fares. Booking went through but CC not charged and no eTicket…. Another agent seemed to know what the issue was (with a booking to the US) and fixed it but two calls to QF this morning.

WCMO also is VA continues to snafu trying to book reward flights on SQ. They don’t want to take my money. Guess I have to call them now….

Did I mention QFF award availability?

Almost every airline has some award availability around Christmas/New Year. Qantas? None from a long way out and for a long way into new year.

Thank you Qantas. That's how you look after your customers.

Yep. But won't try it now.

Agreed. That's why I was forced to book AY awards instead. Would have preferred QF all the way to Europe. QF doesn't even have CRs to Asia though for me to connect. So ended up booking SQ.

I have received a couple of letters from a share registry company to check my email address due to their inability to send information to me.
Turns out to be Telstra bigpond sensing a big electronic mailout and blocking the lot because it might be spam. Why can't they detect that it is from a large legitimate company?
Same goes for using my bigpond mail when overseas. I can receive mail but nothing going out. Back to AU and perfect. Gmail works perfectly wherever.

#WCMO is deteriorating mobile phone service in some countries. I recently had the good fortune of visiting relatives, some beaches and our very own holiday house in generally wonderful country. But I was struggling at times with mobile reception in the countries second largest city, which has a population in excess of 5m.

Firstly changing trains at a reasonably large station just one stop north of the city centre o (where 5 suburban lines and 1 regional line pass through) I could not get reception on my main (foreign) phone which I have roaming -either from my primary Singapore SIM card (which roams to that countries main tel co ) nor from the eSIM I usually use for dat( which seems to have opted to use the countries second carrier). Although the local phone that I have (which I don’t. have a data plan for) actually had 2 bars and it operates both voice and data over the countries 3rd network).

Later same day coming back from the beach on an admittedly relatively minor train line that mainly services suburbs adjacent to the bay the city is on - no reception on either phone until I reached a main junction station just south of the city’s river). Nor did I have reception on the sandy beach near the station although I did have reception at another beach 15 mins away.

Not naming names of the city or the country but I just wasn’t impressed and expect better.

I have found that a lot in London on my last visits. I think it just gets so congested it doesn't cope. Not good when you're trying to find your way around

Also the roaming agreements some Telcos sign default to slower 3G or 4G, reserving 5G for local customers not roamers.

The other reason for high congestion can be lack of wired home internet so more locals using 4G/5G modems as well as all the regular mobile traffic.
