Have been asked to vacate after 6 years and have 4 months to do it.
I've been looking at a few places and one thing is clear. Rent in Brisbane does not reflect the state of our economy. How did we allow overseas markets to influence our rents?
We rent out our 2 bedroom with lock up garage apartments in Sydney between $350-$400 week. These are quite old and rent remains low due to the flooding of apartments on and around Canterbury Road.
Looking at same old apartments around Brisbane and you need around $600-$800 week. That is ridiculous.
I saw a decent looking one for $435/week and note on the listing that it's going up to $550/week? How the f...? How do you justify that type of increase? People are paying it because there is no alternative.
I wish I could go back to Sydney and live in my apartment but we want daughter to stay here and finish learning sign language. Plus daughter does not want to leave until she finishes grade 6.
Stress.
