What else is burning members about recent "enhancements" to QFF?

I had priority boarding tonight on a SYD-CBR flight, but not on the DRW-SYD flight. anyway I may as well been no one cause silver gets few benefits these days, even though it requires significant patronage still to reach it.

Because silvers can select seats though, I got 8C, but got called in the last group to board ;-) because rows 13+ got called before everyone else ...

Silver doesn't get priority boarding.

Silver doesn't get priority boarding.

I know that, but my point was, because I could select a seat and I can select it in the front end of the plane, i actually get boarding after all the non FF'ers and bronze down the back......

Qantas are going to lose a lot of us silvers to other airlines I think.......

I meant specifically in the sense of domestic priority boarding. Yes, the comparison table does show it, but only there, which seems a little odd.

Agree it is odd. But the comparison table does specifically mention domestic priority boarding. It is difficult for me, the public, to judge which information is real on the website. So I can only take it at face value.

I'm seeing something odd on the QF web site. The nerd in me senses that it's a copy/paste character-encoding issue. However...

There's now literally a question mark over Priority Waitlist and Priority Boarding for QFF Platinum members.

It'll be referring to one of the footnotes (that use different characters!)

No its not Oz_mark:

You'll receive priority if you're waitlisted for a flight?
Board your flight at your convenience with priority boarding available on selected Qantas international flights?

There is no ? in the reference marks section:

# Available on Qantas operated jet flights with a QF flight number on your ticket
~ Only available on Qantas operated jet flights with a QF flight number on your ticket. Size and Weight restrictions apply.
± Flight upgrades are only available on Qantas operated flights with a Qantas flight number on your ticket, are subject to capacity controls and availability is limited. Flight upgrades are not available on Award flights or heavily discounted domestic and international airfares booked in E, N, O, P, Q, U, X or Z class, which includes some Red e-Deals. Upgrades will only be confirmed if seats in the relevant cabin class are available in Award booking classes. For full details see terms and conditions

I was saying it should be one of the characters used in the footnotes

The sentence about upgrades

Use points to request an upgrade? to Business

is probably referring to the ±

The sentences

You'll receive priority if you're waitlisted for a flight?

Board your flight at your convenience with priority boarding available on selected Qantas international flights?

is probably referring to the §

Note that neither ± or § appear in the text. Something has gone wrong in the production of that page.

And the concern is that something in that page has changed or will change... and probably not for the better...

Thanks, I wondered if I was seeing things.

Looking at the source, oz_mark's postulations make sense.

You guys are getting way too paranoid! We are not due for another QFF "enhancement" until July 2011. :p

Let's not give them any other ideas though. The next 'enhancement' may force me to move to AAnother AAirline (All my Hotel/Car Hire and everything non-flying/credit cards already goes there).

Does anyone actually get priority boarding on domestic flights? I have never had it.

I nearly had priority boarding on a QF MEL-SYD flight. I say nearly because there were two lines - one premium and one that wasn't. Once the flight was called it didn't seem to make any difference what status you were.

Well the boarding was a zoo this morning for 412 to Syd.. people cutting in and making 3 lines instead of 1..

Recently did a BNE-SYD vv and I noted priority boarding call for multiple flights, but noticed it's basically at commencement of boarding, and people were already lining up anyway, and no-one got knocked back as far as I can tell.

Frankly, if it's not enforced, it's pointless and they shouldnt bother. I guess they think by announcing it, they've "offered" it.

Frankly, it amazes me that QF cant see why their FFers get so frustrated with them - an airline constantly calling itself premium, constantly pushing FF and benefits, continuously failing to live up the expectations that they themselves are clearly setting. And they wonder why they get so much bad PR, and anger from their most loyal customers. I've been ver loyal to QF, and they've looked after me (for the most), but my patience is wearing thin. Once Vrigin Australia announce their new offering, if it's halfway decent, I suspect huge numbers will start to walk across to the other terminal, and stay there (provided they do it properly). I already know of multiple Paltium FFers (not from this board) who are walking already. It'll become a run if Virgin get this right. Qantas are running out of time to act, it's going to be hard to get them all back......

I actually think priority boarding should be for the people who aren't regular flyers. I much prefer to step on last and click by belt buckle as they back away form the gate and not site there waiting while people push past with bags and jackets.

Actually I'd also prefer to board last....but I do like to slide my carry on baggage into the bin above my seat. If I boarded last I'd almost certainly find no space whatsoever. :-|

I'm not sure it is enforced, because its not worth the hassle. But as I stated earlier in this thread it annoys me as a silver flyer seated in front of the rear of the plane, that I'd get last call for boarding. If they are going to do it, call Business class, gold and platinum, then call the rear of the plane and silver and then everyone else.

Technically the best way to board would be window seats, then middle then aisle, or start from the last few rows and work forwards.

Then again i offered to help a woman once put her bag in the overhead locker, because she was struggling with it. She wouldn't let me despite holding up everyone for a minute or two.

Yes, the big Catch-22! :(

I've started trying to leave the lounge a little early (prior to announcements) so I can board 'among the first', solely because I want to find overhead space within one row of my seat. Otherwise, like you and many others, I would happily be last on board.

Heaven knows if it would be possible (I've given no thought to the logistics etc.), but I'd buy a very big beer (several, even) for the person who could create a practical design where each seat had a closely located overhead space, large enough to fit the largest 'legally' sized carry-on bag, reserved just for it. But I suspect it simply isn't practical.
