What I ate today - the food thread

We went out for Tim Sum, Dim Sum or Yum Cha, depending on your preference, at the Emperors Kitchen. This is a restaurant south of the river in Perth that has a good reputation for their Sunday offerings. My son had tried to go there at 12:30 last week and gave up after waiting about 90 minutes for a table. Today we went just before 11:00 and still had to wait about 10 minutes.

As usual lots of different small serves so just a few selections below. Descriptions are as per the menu.

King Prawn & Pork Sui Mai at the top of the photo and Shanghai Pan Fried Juicy Pork Buns

We had already eaten some of the Chili & Pepper Squid Tentacles plus King Prawn Rice Flour Rolls - the prawns were battered before being placed into the rice flour rolls.

Turtle shaped Baked Pineapple Buns stuffed with Custard

I have never seen these before. Deep Fried Almond Egg Yolk Balls. The egg yolks were still runny - extra nice. We couldn't figure out the green colour. It was certainly not Pandan and didn't taste like green tea - maybe just green food colouring.

All of it was excellent.

Actually not today but lunch yesterday. My son and his girlfriend bought over/cooked some food.

From nearest the camera -:

Bone marrow and turnip soup.

Some chicken wings and fried chicken with topping

Stir fried tofu, mushrooms and green vegies

Bamboo shoots, Century egg and a spicy chili soy topping

rice with quinoa

Having Flidai nite fish'n chips at our usual haunt, we were astonished by the custom at the local Mexican fast food chain.
Guzman y Gomez must be doing something right because there were probably 30 cars lined up for the take away and it
continued like that for hours…amazing.
Someone is making a (fast) buck….

Tonight, dinner was at a clients house after our meeting. They are Haka Chinese, living near Parramatta.

Vegetables, fried eggplant, pork with eggs, and two beef dishes (the one at the front was randang beef)

Oh my god - a crème caramel to die for. Not too sweet and we polished off half of it
