Great food and service and nice wine list.

Tonight we ate in at the CP Sapporo because it was cold, windy and wet. Didn't really sound good looking at their menu but was quite surprising.
I had what was called a Snack plate which came with a free drink. I had an Asahi black. This is what I got.
IMG_9857.jpg

Plus a salad and a vegetable soup which was quite nice.
IMG_9858.jpg

And my beer.
IMG_9856.jpg

Mrsdrron had a hamburg steak as they call them with a mushroom sauce which came with a salad, a plate of rice and a glass of wine.

IMG_9860.jpg

She liked it. She also had a second glass of wine and the bill was 4080 yen or just under $41 which was great value.

A very nice dinner at a very good Izakaya just around the corner from our hotel. Hanabi Kitasanjo Street Store. Only picked it because it said that they had an English menu.
We each got a small bowl of edamame and then
started with a sashimi platter for 2 with extra salmon.
IMG_9876.jpeg

Then we each had a skewer of chicken and of beef.
IMG_9877.jpeg

IMG_9878.jpeg

Then fried chicken wings which were quite large but beautiful.
IMG_9879.jpeg

Then I had spicy bean sprouts. Very spicy and like kimchi.
IMG_9880.jpeg

Finally BBQ young corn and tempura corn. Really nice.
IMG_9881.jpeg

IMG_9882.jpeg

Mrsdrron had a carafe of white wine and I a large fraught beer. The whole lot came to 9000 yen - $90.

A nice way to start the day. First a mixed dish. I love the salted Hokkaido scallops. No need to tell you it was spicy. Next to that the yellow dish is white fish escabeche.
IMG_9912.jpeg

And to finish a cup of curry soup.
IMG_9913.jpeg

Chong Co, Kingston.

Veg. Curry Puffs - very tasty. The potato carrot peas corn filling was very good.

IMG_9399.jpeg

Veg. Massaman Curry - very creamy and not spicy as expected.

IMG_9405.jpeg

Chiili Eggplant and Tofu - now, this dish hit.the.spot - right amount of chilli, fried tofu soaks up the sauce and goes nice with the rice (topped with coconut cream)

IMG_9407.jpeg

IMG_9404.jpeg

Mango ice cream, banana samosa, sticky rice - banana samosa was a bit here and there for me, I’d expected the samosa to be a bit more sweet. Mango ice cream was 7/10. Sticky rice was 7/10. The whole dish together paired well.

Late lunch at Noodles XO CBR Airport.

Vegan fried rice with spicy sambal. Had to check twice with the chef if the sambal was vego and he confirmed it.

I have been eating at this place quite often, so the chef kinda knows what I like. Earlier the chef used to load my meal with fresh chillies but now he uses sambal.

IMG_9332.jpeg

Nice meal - got a generous 17% discount on the price as well.

Last night in Sapporo and it was back to Hanabi.
So some different dishes but all were delicious. First up fried octopus and corn fritters.
IMG_9916.jpeg

IMG_9917.jpeg

Then lamb skewers and sashimi salmon.
IMG_9918.jpeg

IMG_9919.jpeg

Pork skewers and chicken wings.
IMG_9920.jpeg

IMG_9921.jpeg

Last dishes were asparagus wrapped in bacon and tuna and salmon sashimi.
IMG_9922.jpeg

IMG_9923.jpeg

So with a 500ml carafe of wine and 2 beers it came to 9800 yen — $98.

Still in Wales, staying in the Hand hotel in Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceirog, had to have the Welsh lamb with black pudding, so succulent. Offscreen are the vegetables, carrots, spring cabbage and mash.

But upstairs if we were there for lunch or dinner was a very good looking Robata restaurant. Some of the things you could choose.

The tanks of scallops and oysters looked great. Definitely worth considering on a trip to Hokkaido.

Ive been waiting to try this ever since i saw it on instagram... Humble Crumble at Burroughs markets, todays special lemon meringue. Underneath the gooey top is fruit crumble.

Bakers Delight, CBR Civic. The shop was closed briefly and underwent some reno work. Looks like the baking area is renovated and the shop front looks more spread out and spacious.

Trying the limited time only Iced Lemon and Raspberry Scones. Really good. The cream on the top was nice, not sickly sweet, but the right amount to complement the tartness from the raspberry.

There were also, what I think were, little white chocolate buttons that have bursts of chocolaty sweetness every now and then. All in all a good offering from Bakers Delight. Will have it again.
