What I ate today - the food thread

We cheated this year and got a hamper from our local restaurant called Bask. It was just the two of us as one son was in Prague en route to Iceland and the other was in Cairns (talk about temperature differences!). The hamper came with Rye bread and almond butter (absolutely sensational!), slow cooked lamb shoulder (cryovaced and just needed to be reheated) with potatoes and beans and to finish off pavlova with cream and various fruits. We also started with some nice Karumba prawns.

Way to go @Scash 👏👏👏

Better late than never. A selection from the JL F lounge at HND last week.

Sashimi of the day:

Horse mackerel:

This was a new one for me: Fugu with mussel.

It was the mussel that appealed. It wasn’t until googling later that I learned Fugu is puffer fish. 😲

Mrs H was horrified when I told her.

Just as I was horrified to discover Mrs H had fumbled around with the JL app and inadvertently ordered three serves of the shrimp and mushroom gratin.

Everything else was small serves, barely a mouthful, but the gratin was a large serve - a meal all on its own. 🤣

Mrs H had also ordered herself the soba noodles.

By this stage she swore she wasn’t going to eat for a week and was starting to look a bit like a puffer fish.

Those of us who paced ourselves had room for dessert.

French toast, just delicious.
