A simple question: what can you get in New Zealand and bring back as souvenirs / gifts to Australia that's not available in Australia? There probably is already a 99% overlap in goodies sold but is there something that's still unique to NZ?

Most (99%) of NZ souvenirs / gifts will be made in China.
NZ duty free booze can be cheaper than AU duty free

You can't go past this - it screams "New Zealand"

Possum and Merino jumpers and cardigans etc!

I’m another vote for the possum fur products. So soft, light and warm. I wore a pair of possum socks until they wore right through on the heels. A sad day!

Vogels bread! I often stop at the supermarket on my way to the airport to get a loaf or two, then pop it into the freezer when I get home.

Definitely do NOT pop some honey in your carry on. They class it a liquid and needs to be in check-in luggage. I sometimes forget it is an international flight and not just a domestic hop skip and jump across the ditch. It sure hurts throwing out $50 tubs of honey.
