Have you been notified that your licence number was in the breach? If not, I know that at least in Victoria you can't request a new licence in that case.
Well yes, that’s why I’m asking.

Just correcting myself here from the WA DOT FAQs:Biggest issue imo is the wait in the queue at the licensing centre and potential issues with rental car companies not appreciating a temporary paper license.
That's taken long enough - I got my confirmation a few days back.Confirmation just now of exposure.
During further analysis as part of our ongoing investigation, we can confirm that the licence number on your Driver Licence was exposed. Please note, a copy of your Photo ID has not been exposed.
This is my second confirmation one that my details have been breached. I received the first on the Saturday as it started which advised the possibility. .That's taken long enough - I got my confirmation a few days back.
oh right. i'd get mine changed if it had been exposed. better to deal with a credit agency etc. than the issue of being tied up in identity theft.Well yes, that’s why I’m asking.
Yes the first one was very general. I’m still waiting for them to specifically say what they leaked so I can work out what to replace. This is my second confirmation one that my details have been breached. I received the first on the Saturday as it started which advised the possibility. .
I fortunately renewed mine in 2020 (after I signed up with Optus) but I made the mistake of getting a new photo (I didn’t know I was allowed to keep the existing one). I had the NSW service app open with my drivers licence and the photo updated and I aged 5 years before my very eyes…Mrs NM had to renew her Qld drivers license this week. Nothing to do with Optus data hack - just the regular 5-year renewal and this year she needed to update the photo so had to do it in person. Had to queue 20 mins outside the TMR office, then another 40 mins wait once she made it inside the building.
Does that make any sense from your experience? Have you ever been asked to enter your card number along with licence number to verify ID?I had formal advice from the NSW Government that they do not recommend replacing my licence as only the Lic # was revealed, not the card #.
Yes, for example all the Credit rating places required the card number as well as the DL as proof of ID.Does that make any sense from your experience? Have you ever been asked to enter your card number along with licence number to verify ID?
Crazy. My ID checks have only used the licence number not the card number. As as a director I've had several. One as recently as three months ago. All I plugged in was my DL which was only 9 months old. If it true it's not needed then why did Optus email me to tell me to get a new licence?I had formal advice from the NSW Government that they do not recommend replacing my licence as only the Lic # was revealed, not the card #.

Not for NSW licence (see my earlier comment).Crazy. ID checks only use the licence number not the card number.
ID checks are National though. The only time I was asked for the card number was for my ID check for the SA Govt portal. I didn't need that number to create the GovId account and have strong security. Not for NSW licence (see my earlier comment).
As per the example I mentioned, when I was getting my credit reports, as soon as I selected NSW DL as the primary ID, it then opened a further field for the card number. No card #, do not pass ”Go”.ID checks are National though.
Every club you enter in NSW usually asks you to place you driver's licence into a card reader. Is anyone worried about the security or lack of with your local club?As per the example I mentioned, when I was getting my credit reports, as soon as I selected NSW DL as the primary ID, it then opened a further field for the card number. I have seen this on other things, like applying for a UBank account a year or so ago.
