As the weather is warming up for most of us, thought it would be most appropriate to add a relevant thread find amongst the well traversed within the AFF community where you have enjoyed, or not, your experiences with the best & worst prices of beer -

To get the ball rolling..

As a starter - me:

Expensive: = $18 for a small half filled draft mug of cough substance :(
Where: Singapore lounge bar

Cheapest: 12 pesos = 30 cents
Where: Remote village in Philippines (It was a warm can served with block ice ) Delicious! :D

Over to you..

Special mention: Rogues Nightclub, Oxford St Sydney circa 1991: $6.50 for a beer.

Most expensive recently was at Raffles, Singapore - S$22, A$17.50
Cheapest was a week later in Bangkok - 20 Baht, A$0.60 and it definitely tasted better!

Second most expensive - Raffles, Singapore - S$22 - same price as the Sling (much better value)
Most expensive - Jimmiy'z, Monte Carlo - E25 - E30 for a Vod/Red Bull, albeit unlike other places no cover.

Cheapest - under $1 - Ko Lanta, Thailand and Sabah, Malaysia, in fact most places thru Asia.

Paid $5 USD for a beer in AKL airport in about 1988. Dont know what inflation would make that now, but at the time it was daylight robbery. But it was cold and tasted bloody good!!

Cheapest would have been Langkawi, Malaysia. Was getting Carlsberg for about 50c per can.

Paid some silly prices in Singapore for drinks though....

Not sure were you guys are getting the Raffles prices. A tiger was only S$18++ last night and the sling was S$26++. 25% Citibank discount made the final price about 8% lower.

Now to the question at hand. My best beer must be the carlton cold I've had on numerous occasions that was been right in the point of freezing such the pressure change when cracking the top made ice crystals form. Best enjoyed in a Queensland or south Australian summer.

I'd also rate the stark bier at the Paulaner beer hall as both good and expensive. Although one Italian guy was getting upset at me, for some reason.

Price wise, my home brew is sitting pretty well. About $1 per 750ml, not including labour.

I have paid $20US (when it was greater than the AUD) for a Corona at the Hyderabad Marriott.

Haven't really taken notice of the cheaper beers TBH with you.

About the equivalent of AUD8 for a pot (10 fl oz - 285 ml) of beer in a bar in Oslo in 1996. Not sure about the cheapest.

I don't have to go further than Sydney for the most expensive draught beer - $19 in a "boutique" beer bar in Clarence St. But I paid 12 euro for a can of Heinikin in a bar in Paris.

Cheapest would have been a Bintang in Kuta somewhere.

The S$22 beer was during the F1 GP weekend, so I guess a price hike to be expected.

While not strictly beer I calculated my pre flight champers at the QP was $35 a glass when I was paying for my membership and not flying very often

Re: What/Where is the most expensive/cheap price for a serve of beer that you have pa

Cheapest was in Mexico at a bar that was doing double happy hour (i.e. buy one beer get four). Worked out at about 30 cents for a beer.

Re: What/Where is the most expensive/cheap price for a serve of beer that you have pa

Perth: $18 for a pint of Carlton Draught!
Melbourne: $18 for a pint of Peroni

Cheapest: $0.50 MGD's at most places in the USA during happy hour a few years back. Also, the 'Beer Busts' (ie, all-you-can-drink from x to ypm for a fixed price) sees that becoming around 10c/bottle for those hard core of us ;)

Re: What/Where is the most expensive/cheap price for a serve of beer that you have pa

I'll agree with the consensus on Singapore being the priciest - think I paid about $22SGD in the Cactus Garden previously.

The cheapest? Well my local 7/11 probably where cans of varies varieties both local and international start from about $6 HKD :)

Re: What/Where is the most expensive/cheap price for a serve of beer that you have pa

While I've had some cheap beers in South America and some expensive ones here in Australia, I actually find restaurants in NZ sell really overpriced mainstream beers.

I used to like Carlton Cold till they started messing with the alcohol content and the recipe.

I also homebrew. Currently brewing with Cooper's Pale ale and using malt as my sugar.

Most expensive beer I had was about $22 for a pint in Norway.

Pretty sure I've pushed $16 for an (admittedly large) can of Sapporo in Melbourne.

Cheapest is about 40 cents for a half litre bottle in China. Good stuff too if it's cold.
