They wouldn't expect to recoup their initial costs overnight. They will fill seats if they offer an inflight product that gives people a reason to fly the airline. AVOD could be a real draw card for them, and would certainly help their continued push to change that LCC perception.
As for advertising costs, they were never overly concerned about the extremely poor uptake of the Live2Air product, as they had them all paid off through mostly the advertising revenue alone. I recall VS play a whole series of advertisements almost like a commercial break on TV, prior to playing their Safety Demonstration, a clever way to sell advertising time for a captured audience.
Would we be able to find one person to say they would be absolutely against Virgin installing this product??
