Whats the most amount of flights you took to reach your destination

SYD-ICN-IST-ZRH-LCY (Star Alliance J redemption) (OZ, TK, LX)

Was supposed to be a 34 hour trip turned into a 44 hour trip thanks to snow in London which meant my ZRH-LCY flight was cancelled and then numerous delays in London/Zurich. Finally got put onto a LHR flight but my bags came 2 days later.
I did almost the same trip on 23 December 2016 (excl. the LCY leg) to get home for XMAS. SYD - ICN KE; ICN - IST - ZRH on TK; it was fun. I almost fell asleep on the Xmas table on 24 December!

Worried about this
I have about 4-5hrs in FRA to connect to GOT. Then an overnight before the GOT-CDG-GRU-BSB flights.

If anything does go majorly wrong and I miss the connects, the EU compensation would more than offset it! ;-)

I think the EU compensation only applies if the delay is within the airline's control. LH quoted this at me as a reason for not compensating me for a 10 hour delay into DEL due to fog; and BD used it on me when a GYD-bound plane went tech and had to return to LHR - meaning I got to GYD a day late.

correct. Tho I’ve gotten it successfully twice from easyjet (planes gone tech/cancellations) and once denied by Swiss due to air space restrictions over India. It’s a leisurely holiday so no big deal if I’m a day or two late.

I've done some creative routings for the fun of it, but the most ridiculous I've had to do involuntarily and where only the final destination mattered (noting I did need to stay on one ticket) was SIN-KUL-BKK-ARN-OSL-TOS-LYR.

In the 1980's there was no app, no websites for bookings. You would usually book thru your travel agent. I had just moved to BNE and needed to go to Darwin. Rang the TA who made the booking for me. When I arrived at the airport I found I was flying BNE-SYD-MEL-ASP-DRW. The return was DRW-GOV-CNS-BNE

This thread has been extremely interesting and it provides a lesson in how to use points to get from point A to point B. But are you booking the entire trip through the Qantas booking engine. Or do you use different booking systems (eg if member of Velocity). How many tickets are issued resulting in numerous PNRs. What are the downfalls of travelling like this?

In my case using the instant upgrades on AA , it was a case of reading posts here (on the American Airlines section) to work out the Route that gave the best value for money , then all booked online using the US AA website as the Australian version didn't show the instant upgrade fares.
Each leg was ticketed separately. The downfalls being delays due to weather etc can throw plans out the window, so need to be flexible with your traveling.

As I posted recently on another similar thread:
BNE-MEL-SCL-GRU-MEX-VER
returning
MEX-BCN-DXB-BNE

I have a current booking to get to Havana mixing two redemptions and a revenue flight - with the only stopover being two nights in AKL. The convoluted route was necessary as I am travelling over Christmas 2024:

MEL-SYD-AKL-HKG-KUL-BKK-HEL-LHR-MIA-HAV - that's 9 flights with seven airlines (QF, LA, CX, MH, AY, AA, DL)

I just returned home from FLL the other week.

FLL-IAH-LAX-TPE-SIN/XSB-SZB/KUL-MNL-SYD.

On 4 separate tickets with 4 airlines. Mostly consisted to try Starlux premium economy and fly in/out of Seletar and Subang.
