What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

We've already had a crash of sorts. Not quite GFC crash but enough to wipe out a sizeable chunk of my life savings. The fact whatever dollars are left got devalued by currency depreciation at the same time hasn't helped.

Just gotta ride it out now I think. I'd bank in a year or 2 from now we'll be closer to 6000 than 4000. Not quite so confident on the AUD.

BIG prediction!
Has to happen. 2008 was nothing compared to the next event.

Some have been saying September this year but that sounds too soon. I have had 2017 in my mind for a long time. Could be later. Blind Freddy can see it coming. Sorry Freddy!

Hmm, not so sure. The GBP is doing GREAT against the USD, THB and INR right now

Same with the CHF. Seems to be on the rise again, absolutely flogging the AUD. I don't know what to do - keep my resources in a fairly strong currency, or move them out to get lots of what is currently a very weak one.

I think this ad sums up the feeling quite nicely:

This whole thing is a joke. China collapses so everyone follows suit.

I am seriously considering selling all my investments. If I don't it is going to hurt when the crash happens. It will be like no crash we have witnessed in our entire existence.

Become a hermit and head for the hills !!!

The Aussie SPI is showing as down 141 but the Dow has pulled back to being 350 down after dropping 1,000 for a short time. It may weaken off again towards the close.
Lucky it's only money being lost.....we get to keep all of our body parts.....
The AUD has fallen below 0.72 and most commodities we sell are weak. Imported goods prices will be rising thru to Christmas.

Dropped 7% against the Yen overnight. Almost 20% against the Euro last couple of months including last nights hammering. Dropping further and further vs USD all the time too but not quite as drastic as others recently. Has an eerily similar look to 2008.

The GBP has gone bonkers overnight too, almost 1.58 USD, INR has also shot up from 103 to 105 (from 99 only 2 or so weeks ago). EUR has dropped quite significantly over the past week too (from 1.41 down to the current 1.35). Interesting.

.. and AUD-GBP has dropped from .475 -> .453

AUD is certainly taking a battering!

I am actually on the side of JohnK.There is going to be a crash.I was hoping ~ 2018.
Dont know if this is it coming a little early or just a significant correction. But both the ASX and Dow have dropped through significant support levels and the mob does seem spooked.
Dow down 588 points after opening down 1000-the first time ever that this has happenned.

Interesting times ahead... USD/AUD not ideal as we are in the importing game. Just have to make it work.

Wonder what will happen with the property market, somehow still keeps reasonably strong during times like this.

I'm guessing further increases as property is now cheaper to foreign buyers? ;)
