What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

For the bears out there: the market fundamentals don't look terrible currently with PE ratios of around 15 for the ASX.

The market ruckus is helpful to remind us all to get our borrowings into order. Some will not get that signal and run on empty then get upset when assets have to be sold at the worst possible time.
72 cents feels ok for the Aussie dollar but it would be nice for a quick run past 75 to keep us smiling.

Not quite sure about borrowings issue. In low interest environment serviceability over loans should be okay, all other things being equal, though it will be affected if earnings/income is at risk.

On another note, would low AUD exchange rate affect international air fares directly?

Would not appear so to date - many cheap deals floating around for Y inter - but that is no doubt reflection of oil price and competition.

However doesnt appear to be as many Prem cabin discounts as when AUD stronger / oil price higher but Time will tell.

Sitting in a hotel room in Konstanz watching CNBC - Yank experts are now predicting new round of QE4 and next interest rate movt may by down not up - go figure.

Anybody seen Nostradamus lately?

Expert predictions are like a game of darts, eventually one gets a bullseye, then everyone puts them on a pedestal, until the next lucky expert comes along.

Keep calling in one direction and you'll eventually be right. That's when you see articles written about him/her that a prediction was made some years ago and that he/she was right.

Good to see QF are following my posts - within hours of me posting above they announce some very attractive J Companion fares - SIN ret sub 3K / LAX ret sub 5K - any others matters of concern to the good AFF folk I can help you out with?

Can the AUD please cough**** stop falling against every b***** currency!!! My next OS trip at the end of this week has already gone up 10% :(

At least the AUD hasn't fallen as much against the THB.

Makes the USD0.90 I was buying last year look very attractive.

Welcome back...... To the 60's baby....... NOT!
It will be sooner than late..... As we are on the cliff edge now!!!!

I don't ride my bike around cliff edges. The markets would be like a cliff edge and I have two low buy orders on for today.

I feel your pain. The cost of my trip to Japan at the end of the month is also now up by 10%.

Deutsche Bank Australia predicting the aussie might go into the 50c range.

Mr Boyton said Deutsche predicted 18 months ago that the dollar would hit about 65 US cents by the middle of 2016, a statement he said is “looking less stupid by the day”.
“I wouldn’t discount the currency moving into the 50s,” Deutsche Bank’s Australian chief economist Adam Boyton said.

Sorry should have said below 60c. I guess farmers and manufacturers would love it below 50c. Pity most big manufacturers are gone or going.
