What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

The AUD climbed slowly the past month and then slipped sharply past where it started. Signs not good. :(

Aussie dollar is 71.8 cents US that the most I have seen it for a while despite all the doom and gloom. However, still may go either direction.

At work we have been able to achieve a 0.72 average over the past couple of months using some derivatives. Our price list is based on 0.74 so we have prepaid to get settlement discounts to achieve the 0.74 figure.
The previous year was much easier than this period.

The FX markets appear to be subdued with holidays but CPI data is expected tomorrow. If it's weak, that will have downward pressure on the AUD I think - good for exporters / anyone wishing to buy AUD

We are still cobbling together a bit under 0.72 with some option contracts. We will need to buy some $USD before June 30th so we plan to buy the highs and not the lows and earn a few points on the interest rate differences.

Sitting on 1.0373 as I write.
For some reason when I clicked on this thread took me back to first post.

1 AUD = USD $0.70 or THB 22 is madness. It wasn't that long ago I was getting THB 33 to the AUD.

Makes holidaying very expensive but the Thais have finally realised that they can't keep increasing golf rates and have empty golf courses and there are plenty of empty hotels doing deals.

Had to get some US dollars to cover our latest trip to the US. I thought 0.7014 was pretty ordinary but l didn’t want some currency in the 0.6 price range. Tonight it is 0.6967 so I am sort of happy with what I thought was a cough rate. Lucky it wasn’t to buy something substantial in US dollars.

I still think the $AUD can rally but it sure is taking its time to do so. Maybe my small purchase will put a floor under our currency.

Most recent US flights came in at A$40 less than I expected. But the rate was 0.6964. Not sure to be happy at saving or sad about the rate.

I start thinking about making some US dollars when the $AUD tanks like this.
All of the merchandise that our business buys in US dollars will start getting more expensive and I am glad we manufacture items in Australia as part of our business.

I'm pleased my order to sell USD at 0.6920 was filled this afternoon

Ready to sell more of the greenback at lower rates
