What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

Agreed. Comparing 5-star holidays in Australia to Asia especially is no contest. More modern facilities, better food, and service staff who don't think themselves too good to serve you. Like you say, Australian tourism suffers from indifferent service, old facilities in desperate need of renovation/investment, and being massively overpriced. I don't understand why anyone would holiday in Australia.

A holiday, for me, would be more than accommodation. I reckon it would be same for most visitors coming to Australia for leisure.

Sitting on 1.0373 as I write.

I'd like it as low as possible...the quicker the better.

Dollar at 90.8 as we write, I would like it as strong as possible. Making purchases at Best Buy even cheaper. The only problem they know your Australian, and block online purchasers

As an importer I've been loving the USD/AUD rate for a long time but i do remember all those bad years in the 65/75 per AUD range

Yes ouch, u remember being in UK and 39 pence for our dollar!

Whatever the movement in AUD/USD pair, dont forget there is an opportunity cost in buying now or leaving it in the bank earning interest in a term deposit or offsetting a mortgage account

And interest rates change too...

If you are in Germany you would be earning a huge .......... 0.25% gyroKonto
I am hoping share trading will do it for me at a slightly better average,
offsetting does help but not so much on a 10 yr fixed mortgage.

Sorry strayed off topic onto the AUDEUR Pair!

Charter flights...just how many flights would we need to get rid of all the riff raff so we avoid getting ribbed by those Kiwis.

It's all a matter of where you view it from. This time last year it was 14c higher. From there, it appears to have taken a borderline catastrophic downturn and is due for a serious upwards correction. On longer cycles, it still has much further to go back down and the last few years have just been a weird dream. The only certainty is uncertainty. No-one has the foggiest idea where it is going next.
