What's YOUR QFF goal?

Failing the first goal, my next goal is to be the #1 FF on an airline for a year (not sure with what airline, yet).

I'm on track for a 2014 start date...

For me, it's about getting the best value out of it to help support my addiction in flying. Apart from that, I'm hoping to save up enough points to fly my parents somewhere far in J or F (and back, of course). :D They never had the opportunity to fly at the front half of the plane, so it should be a nice thing for them.

Let's take one step back.

My main goal is to be able to travel as often as possible for as long as possible. While I am working it means around 8-10 weeks a year but hoping to increase that if I can retire in 4-5 years time.

Why Qantas? Best choice of a limited lot in Australia including Oneworld Alliance and all inclusive airfares. And some goals to help me along the way

- 1,000,000 QFF points (currently around 75% there)
- Lifetime Gold

Once I reach my goal of 1,000,000 QFF points that will give me enough for 1 Oneworld a year visiting the USA and Europe and at the same time I will be planning 3-4 trips to Thailand for golf and relaxation and earning more QFF points in the process. I am hoping Qantas does not spoil my party.

Fully self funded....

My immediate goal is to get to Gold so that I can book exit row seats when I book.
My secondary goal is to get to WP just because it suits my delusions of my own worth and to push me up the queue for upgrades.
My third goal is to get points to treat my family to free flights.

I travel every week but short hauls in Y so the majority of my points come through CC (Commbank Diamond seems to be one of the best).

Maintain WP with minimal/zero work flying.......had a gut full due to weekly commuting. Going well and have qualified WP until end Feb 2014

Achieve LTG.....will reach this late this year or early next.

Hammer Flounges across the globe as much as I can;) Really enjoying this one:D

My aim is similar to JohnK's - I want to travel as much as I can, and as often as possible. Preferably to every region, if not every country, possible. For me, lounges and other benefits are just nice little bonii as a reward for travelling. It does help that I enjoy flying.

My first big point spend will be on the 140K OW Award (have the points, just waiting until I graduate from my Masters to take 3-4mths off to redeem it), and I don't think I'll be spending points any other way as long as the redemption exists.

I fly fully self-funded. As a student on limited budget, I'm not averse to booking the occasional JQ flight.

use QFF points as quickly as possible once they are earnt in anticipation of a devaluation/OW shakeup - switch flights to CX within a given price threshold compared to QF that earns Asia Miles (QFF status bonus might be attractive but the commensurate higher award levels and taxes balances out).

My main one currently is to get enough points for 2x OW RTW J fares (560,000). 1/3 of the way there currently. Sadly due to starting a new job in a new training position, I'm somewhat limited by time allowed for breaks!

I am too, but I will only fly JQ unless I really have to.
The last time was MEL-OOL in June (before QF started up again).
The next one is probably going to be MEL-SYD-HNL return, only because it's a fair bit cheaper than QF, who apparently doesn't offer that great a service on that route anyway and also I can use the F Lounge twice on the outbound (both in MEL and SYD, depending on timing I can get JQ36).

Good question. My main goal currently is to achieve LTS and then depending on whether Qantas (International) is still viable or not, I'll decide then whether to go for LTG (plus it will depend on where I am living). Making it to Plat just to experience it for a year was a goal, but I've done it now.

SCs are a goal for LTS but I do like having gold for flying (when I drop down from Plat at the end of the month I don't think I'll see much difference). I wasn't going to go for Plat again, but it looks like I will next year - already got a JASA WLG-SYD-LAX flight booked and worked out some YUP USA flights to get me there.

I did redeem some points to do ABX-SYD-NTL and ABX-CBR-NTL but they're marginal. Otherwise I save my points for international redemption.

90+ percent of flights are paid for with cash (lets say 98%).

I usually fly Y when paying cash (except for SC runs/opportunities), but generally aim to use points for J redemption (though J NAN-LAX in cash remains on my radar). The current exception is I'm tempted to book J MEL-SYD-OOL while it is double SC to OOL (though will probably end up doing it as a FlexiSaver since my US trip next year will provide plenty of cheap SC). The SC "game" is a hobby I'll throw some money at, but I'm not a large (size) or luxury focused person, so the actual J experience is something I can take or leave (though a flat bed made a huge difference on the flight to the USA! Double my income and I could well think of it as a realistic option).

I'm a self-funded sole flyer. I'd be lucky to get 20SC a year through work funded flights (I think I got 40 last year but none so far this year). Partly it is because the cheapest fares are usually booked, putting me on Rex for work.

Flying for me is about visiting interesting places with the "game" of QFF on the side. I'd probably never make it past Silver if I didn't enjoy playing the game, but it does provide a good excuse to go to places I otherwise wouldn't see (such as SJU next year most likely). Keen to get to Alaska in 2014, but it doesn't seem to fit in well with the "game", but I can live with that. ;)

If I wasn't single, I severely doubt that I'd be getting about quite as much as I do.

After a thought-provoking post from dajop here, and my current desire to learn as much as I can about earning/redeeming QFF points, I was wondering what your aim is with your points.

Do you spend a lot on DOM flights so you can use points for INT flights?
Is your main goal SCs?
Do you redeem points frequently for flights, like *ASAs, or do you save up for big trips?
What percentage of your flights are paid in cash compared to paid for by points?
What's your favourite way to use your points (I know a lot of people recommend *ASAs)?
If you pay cash, do you usually flight Y, J, or something else? Ditto for when you fly points.
Are you a sole-player in the QFF game, or do you have a partner/family?

Lots of questions - it kind of follows on from my post about how you became a frequent flyer (http://www.australianfrequentflyer....-program/how-did-you-become-qantas-43013.html), but this is more about your current habits and goals.

When you find your other half, a visit to the SYD/MEL F lounge should fix it. After all, you'll save on hotel costs when travelling too.

There was a time when I failed to requalify for QF Silver; then I discovered this site. Since then I have reached SG, then WP, and then LTS! I'm hoping to stay at WP long enough to do a RTW visiting all those Flounges; and reach LTG before I retire.

Seems there are a hell of a lot of us around LTS with QF and heading for LTG. Wonder what will happen when we all get there?????

Some ( like me) will be too old or infirm to enjoy it !

I have never really had a goal other than to travel as comfortably as I can, so SC's and points are important in achieving that. With the almost certain reduction in travel and move to Y and Y+ the collection of points is critical for me. Hopefully about a 700,000 in the next 12 months. I wonder whether LTG will have any value when I need to use it?
