Virgin
Platinum
Just went to quickly see how many SC i need to renew Platinum and whether family pooling was activated.

After 10 minutes I found the first one, and still can't figger out the second.

Have no idea whether the rental car and hotel opt in things are active or not.

No idea when this wanky and hopeless site was loaded up, but I wish they would offer the "Classic" option so members could see at a glance all this stuff and not take 10 minutes aimlessly wandering about.

I thought it was great...seems to be loading different sections in phases so maybe tomorrow you'll get a better experience.

Well maybe I will win $100 million in Powerball too.

I needed to find this today, not next week as we are taking about 10 Virgin booked flights over weekend in Biz class, and wanted to juggle family pooling to max effect.

Go to the VA website, login, click on the drop down box next to 'Welcome, xx_XX' and then select My Benefits....

It's a shocker - a wasteland of washed colour with little information per square cm of screen space.

For now I use this: https://www.velocityfrequentflyer.com/content/MyAccount/MyActivities/ to see activity without the bandwidth clogging bulldust.

Also, they have stuffed up the SC earn tables in the new version with no specific reference to SC earn for some travel on partner airlines. e.g. They define "Discount Economy" fare buckets for their partners but there is no table showing how many SC are earned for travel in "Discount Economy" on those airlines.

I just did a dummy run for myself.

Logged in and clicked on "My Dashboard"

Scrolled down and under "Your Status" it tells you how many SC's you need.

Scroll up, one click on "Link & Transfer" and one click on "Family Points Pooling".

Done.

I have a feeling that whilst they are updating the front-end of the site (the visuals you see when going to the site), I think they are doing this in preparation or also updating the back-end (where all the data is stored) or they are migrating to a new back-end totally.

There was a lot of comments that when Virgin Blue started as a LCC, their IT had to overly customize the systems as Virgin Blue became more complex etc with partner airlines etc. So any upgrades are obviously a bit of a struggle and very complex if this is the case.

If in due course, SC's and points credit much quicker than the current +- 3 day turn around and it becomes more reliable I'm pretty sure "all will be forgiven".

It would be more friendly if they actually put it up a notice which said "We are currently doing a makeover of our site which is being staged. Please be patience. If you have a suggestion or notice an accidental fault click here to give us feedback"

The last time they did a web-site overhaul, didn't the team leave before the job was completed?

Agree.

Thanks for the "Classic" style link. Anything I need to know is there at a glance. As I suspect is true for 99.9% of members.

Bangladesh's finest wanky 19 year old developers let loose on a site that worked perfectly fine.

Now we have a half baked, half functioning mess assisting no-one.

ebay has a very successful Global business as they have barely messed with their layout for 20 years. It you have not logged in there for 15 years, near nothing has changed.

What an absolutely horrible website. Does anyone know how I see my Status Credits and how many to go to maintain? When I click my status it shows info about gifting gold but nothing about my status. Driving my crazy.

I’m usually happy to jump on a VA bashing bandwagon, especially when it comes to IT issues, but I have to say I don’t see what the problem is here! I thought everything was easy to find and perfectly clear.

@Anastascia , I also see the gift gold tracker, but just to the left it tells me I will maintain Platinum and shows a graphic indicating I've already got the required 800 SCs and 8 eligible sectors. I assume you only see the gift gold tracker after maintaining Platinum?

No I don't like the website much either. As mentioned above, too little information displayed per page requiring a lot of scrolling and clicking around. Navigated via the "Top Menu" looking for "My Benefits". Once in that maze I couldn't find a thing. Only when I returned to My Dashboard I noticed a secondary menu that had a link to "My Benefits" which when clicking on (as with other links on the secondary menu) brings you back to the old site. So it is a half baked solution - no Search functionality was also a pest whilst in the maze.

lol... the number of issues that ebay site has had is a shocker.

So often they implement something and it takes about a month before it gets fixed. Or they just nerf many features entirely and are permanently gone... at least with the VA changes if you don't like them currently you can still get to the old site.

Can't believe I am saying this but I actually don't mind it.

The earn tables (particularly for partner airlines) are a joke but this new my account page doesn't seem bad.

However there was nothing wrong with the old one...
