I'm onboard AA1223 JFK-DFW and I was served this as my entrée

Now despite my handle I'm no princess when it comes to expectations of First Class food on American but I was pretty unhappy with this. For the record I did taste it and it tasted about as good as it looked.
I politely advised the crew that the pasta wasn't really edible and I got a much better meal from coach - cheese and crackers plus a tub of Pringles :)
I felt a little bit uncomfortable about complaining onboard and I wonder if any other AFF'ers have experienced a shocker of a meal and if so what did you do ?

I'm glad you said it was pasta, I had no idea at all from the photo.

Flying domestic F in the US really makes you appreciate QF domestic J.

Have experienced meals like this , politely sent back & offered whatever available + extra drinks to make up for it.
Make the most of the food in the flagship lounges in preparation for poor food in the air.

That would have been a great plan except I discover en-route to JFK that I had been re-booked on a different flight departing an hour earlier than the original flight.
No notifications from QF or my back up TripIt Pro.

Thats strange for Tripit , always get lots of emails from them .
Have made a few AA bookings lately & have had 4 notifications about changes , seems to happen a lot with AA.
At least the onboard internet is working well.

The worst meal Ive encountered so far was a QF Y meal (long haul). Chicken stirfry that was so salty it was inedible, and I actually like salty food. Lucky the crew topped me up with J champers and snacks.

Seems the original flight number and departure time did not change ... just that flight's destination. That would point to trip-it not checking routing fully ...

I think the crew are well aware how bad some of the food is so it wouldn't be a surprise. But they probably were surprised when you mentioned it politely vs some of the attitude I've seen them deal with.

Looks like lasagna.

I pretty much eat anything on board except for rice and anything heavy with spices and/or chilli.

Heavens to Betsy Princess Fi, I have no idea what that was in its previous life. That meal doesn't need to go back to the galley, it needs to go to forensic!

I'll reserve my judgement until such time the toxicology report is back.

Clearly I'm the only one that thought it looked ok... Would wash down well with a beer.

With airline food I usually approach it with the attitude that 'the proof is in the eating'. Sometimes the most poorly presented food can actually be quite tasty and other times I have been disapointed by well presented food that can be bland/too salty/not fresh etc etc. I admit for some people - the presentation can be part and parcel of the pride/lack of pride shown in the catering but given the logistics of where airline food has to come from and where it is re-heated and where it is consumed I'm just happy to not get food poisoning, any nice tastes or presentation is just a bonus in my opinion. I don't know, maybe I'm easily pleased?
