Hey everyone

Seeing it’s April Fools day, I thought it might be fun to set up a thread to cater for a kind of guess the date a State border re-opens.

The idea is to pick a State and take a guess when one or more State border might re-open.

Queensland (NSW, NT, SA)
Northern Territory (QLD, SA, WA)
South Australia (borders to every mainland State)
Tasmania (?)
Western Australia (SA & NT)

So feel free to make a guess / prediction for one or more States.

For each guess, a month / year (perhaps a date, in case of need of tiebreaker) please

And thank you

PS There may be staggered border residents-openings eg SA:WA Might reopen before say SA:Vic but it’s hard to tell what might happen SO SOME LATITUDE about guesses is fair

After being stuck at home with the +1 for 15 days not soon enough. For the record MrsM feels the same way.

On topic I guess SA will be last and can only assume I will remain trapped in the DPRSA.

Qld will reopen all borders when they get to 2012.

Tassie will reopen their border when they can find someone with a job to go do it.

SA haven't actually closed their borders, they've just told everyone that they have. And that their closed borders are better than all those closed by the eastern states. (no one in the eastern states noticed)

WA, well that will be interesting. The rest of Australia won't let them reopen a border for 14 days after a vaccine has been developed and widely distributed, due to effects of the great cruise liner war of April 2020...

Sorry CaptJCool, couldn't resist. 😊

Are you suggesting that I could have escaped the DPRSA and been able to return. ;) :p

We'll probably save a lot of money by not giving it to them.

Tassie won’t secede...
They’d have to pay their own way and why would you do that living off the “largesse Of others”

a lot of relatively uneducated middle-aged...

A lot of older folk

Until Premier Hodgemen was elected, the highest level of education offered outside major cities was year 10!
To go to boarding school is an “arm and a leg”

Looks like it’ll be no earlier than December 2020.... haha

1 Dec QLD reopens to NSW & Vic
8 Dec WA the same
11 Dec WA to review SA restrictions

And just like that. Closing again.

I wonder how long it will be before the airlines simply give up.

Its actually not just about the airlines. They are just a business - like hundreds of others - that are operating under extremely difficult and constantly changing conditions.

Given the fall out from the current lock down in BNE, I'm hoping by the next April Fool's Day...

I predict there won't be a full month in 2021 that some state border won't be closed. :(

If we are vaccinated by end of October and there are still border closures at Christmas we have serious problems.

Well, WA for a start. I think they like this particular game. I wonder just when the airlines will simply remove WA from their booking lists entirely.

Internal passports, and ID cards (issued by your state, not the Feds) anyone? Accosted by the police, demanding your 'papers', as you walk down the street.

Of course it's tin foil hat stuff, but politicians world wide have shown some amazing tendencies lately.
