We’re close to that now. At central station this morning, police were in the concourse demanding ID (“papers”) from the few people not wearing masks. One guy seem genuinely distressed at being accosted so
I walked up and offered him one from my briefcase and was politely told by the officer to “coughk off and mind my own business”.

Not an anti-mask rant before anyone jumps on me. But it’s certainly a sad reflection on our lives moving forward.

Accosted? Probably just the Police doing their job? Wouldn’t that guy have stuck out like a sore thumb, with all of the others being masked? Although very considerate of you, maybe the wrong thing at the wrong time.

Well, the issue was most likely a passer-by appearing to be trying to get involved with a Police matter. Just keep moving and let the authorities deal with it.

Police state, now? You were raising the matter of someone not complying with the COVID health directive regarding masks and that Police seemed to be enforcing this. What part of the mask requirement is confusing? Are people at Central surprised that masks are required? Why approach authorities who are policing this? Your perceived involvement was probably neither required, nor desired.

You would know nothing about my interests. I’m not intimidated by that sort of language. As to how you dress for work and what you do with your workplace ID is hardly relevant.

The lesson here is not to try and get involved, or appear to be interfering with Police doing their duty, unless you are offering assistance for a medical incident or offering yourself as a witness to an incident. That sort of thing.

Back on topic, appears that VIC may be reopening as soon as in the next couple of weeks to NSW so let’s hope the case numbers in NSW allow that!

QLD Health announced earlier this afternoon, that the entirety of Victoria will no longer be defined as a Covid19 hotspot and borders will re-open from 1am this Saturday 27th Feb.

Border restrictions

People who have been in a COVID-19 hotspot in the last 14 days or since the start date identified for the hotspot (whichever is shorter) will not be allowed to enter Queensland, except for a limited range of people who can enter for essential purposes.
