On the ridge above the pretty lake are the quarries of the Burgess Shale - an amazing soft-bodied fossil deposit. How I would have liked to have climbed up there!

There's an SR-71 on the main deck of the USS Intrepid in New York (along with a Concorde and Space Shuttle) though none of them ever flew off an aircraft carrier. I never realised they built so many SR71s to be able to have so many in museums.
The NYC aircraft is an A-12, not a SR-71.
I was unaware of the A-12 until I read the exhibit information on the deck of the USS Intrepid.

And the Concorde is parked on the Intrepid (museum).

Bingo. One of my favourite lounges from that holiday! Can't believe it was more than 6 years ago.
