Well if it's a boat, it's a submarine. Assuming you don't have access to the collins class boats, then the oberon at the martime mueseum in darling harbour.

Looks way too spacious to be a sub, especially an Oberon class one.

I thought there was no way that the photo was on Oberon Class engine room and as further confirmation I happen to be at my Dad's place and he used to be the Chief Engineer on these. When I showed him the photo he laughed said not a chance, he took a second look at @TheRealTMA photo and without thinking it said that is engine room of the Britanna, and under a minute later had similar photos opened on his PC detailing why he was correct, engineers . @TheRealTMA he wanted to know if you were allowed into the engine room as he had to take these through glass looking into the engine room.

Yes! The shelters for the hajis waiting at Jeddah airport, before they are taken by bus to Mecca. The supplemental pic is the Royal Palace at Jeddah.

The highway from Jeddah to Mecca is a large freeway, and as you approach Mecca, there are many signs, in multiple languages to make sure non-Muslims don't proceed, but loop around the city on the 'infidel bypass' :) (local name!!)

A little OT but still on the same theme @Vic I should not have asked Dad about the Oberon Class, since posting I was called back into his office to be shown more photos. I could just ask where are these from but it would be easy to work out so a few photos and information.

Port and Starboard engines, V16, #2 cylinder has a window to confirm the engine has stopped, the dials on each cylinder is an individual exhaust thermometer.

The control end and second photos details the cramped space to get behind the engines, when requested Dad used to help for specalist engineering tours.

Final photo is access to the 'bear pit' which is the access to the bilges at the aft (rear) end of the engine, the dark space between the Port and Starboard engines as seen in photo 1.

Would have been close with my guess, but not close enough. Have seen similar things in Kuwait.

With the more and less obscure contributions I have been enjoying this thread.
It provides a never ending feeling of ... gee I wish I had been there... Thanks to all.

I hope you have a Happy Festive season.

So, a contribution.
The location and event are fairly obvious, and this was taken with about 11km to go.
Noting the wearers of the yellow and the rainbow jerseys, can you work out which year ?
