Where the heck is Ko Tau?

Oops. No 2 son read the tides wrong - or the web designer has never been here. Tide way out. No wet feet.

Too much of the party stuff and into the water you'd go.

Trying to get used to the low seats. Fine for an hour but after that it just gets tricky.

Nice pizza.

Snorkelling isn't too bad. Lots of fish just off the beach. The coral is no more though.

Will do a specialist snorkelling trip Sunday as there has been a "cool windy change".

44 in Adelaide. Yuck.

Pizza does look good. I'm with you on the low seats but in my case I usually can't even reach the table comfortably.
Glad to hear there were no wet feet.
ADLs weather and fires have been awful.

Our cat is boarding at a cattery in the Adelaide Hills. Of course the worry is that he and the other cats and people are ok as it's located in one of the towns where it was suggested people evacuate. Thankfully it seems the wind change has stopped the fire racing towards the town. It doesn't seem like any lives lost which is amazing given the extent of the fire which is huge. It touched on Adelaide suburbs.

It's only January and really only one day of heat so far this summer. Heaven help Adelaide in February.

Trying to reassure ourselves that all was going to be ok, but not as though we could do anything, we spent the day on kayaks and snorkelling. The fish were beautiful and plentiful but the coral pretty much dead as of a few years ago.

We learnt the trick of attracting fish when snorkelling on Gili Trawangan near Lombok, Indonesia, by filling a plastic drink bottle with water and bread then putting a hole in the lid then squishing it. The fish love it.
They very quickly swarm around and work out that the source is the bottle so they start attacking that. They got into a bit of a frenzy (and I was out in the deep on my own) so I put the bottle under my rashie. Next thing they were attacking me! Just up to 12 inches in length but they pack a punch.

The next bay is where all the snorkelling tours drop off. There were 9 boats each containing around 50 people. So very busy. I think the other side of the island is too windy at the moment so they all base themselves next to us.

Unfortunately no pix as I didn't want to risk having the phone stolen or take it with me and get wet.

So a sunshine filled day today. Now just sorting out dinner plans. It's exhausting.

Hope puss is OK. People say "It's only a cat" but they don't really understand they special place they have in our lives. Sometimes we still miss our old Patsy even though she was 19! Hopefully the wind change will help firefighters to get on top of the situation.

Not sure about being eaten by the fish, sounds a bit like an Alfred Hitchcock experience!

Dinner is always such a difficult decision!

Sadly one cattery and dog boarding kennel has now gone in TTG. Devastating for everyone involved. Looking at the cattery Facebook page they've been inundated with offers of help if needed. I think it'll be ok for us anyway.

Cats and dogs are part of the family.

That's sad to hear. In the Canberra fires 12 years ago, our vet who also boarded cats and small dogs was burnt out, losing their buildings and also all the animals there at the time. It was devastating not just for the owners but for all the vet clinic staff as well. it has been rebuilt now and DrLtL takes her cats there.

And on the dinner front? What was decided upon?

Fish and chips for me. And curry for the others. We ended up skipping lunch so opted for a quick meal.

Desert was fried banana which was nice.

Beautiful sunset.

ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1420293294.859341.jpg

But my phone has developed this annoying green spot so trip to Optus when I return. It's just started and seems a common problem.

It's on the column about half way up.

This one has two!

Sure it's not a little green Martian that has got into your phone?

Rather artistic green blob! Must be really annoying - does it move or always in the same spot. My iPhone has not developed that yet but now I am a bit worried.

That is exactly what MrP said I should do. A documented UFO.

I also took a photo of my son with the green dot right in his throat like he'd been targetted by a laser.

Apparently it's an artefact in the lens when near bright lights. Common problem but as I use the phone as my camera I'm sending it back. It's only two months old.

You can make the light move in the shot. Never in the same place so not a scratched lens etc. and only appears when there is a bright light. I first found it in the sunset photo last night.

But the best news is that the cat is safe and sound. Just need to get through another hot day Wednesday.

This was the first time I saw it.

But the next sunset pic I could move it around so it disappeared. But annoying because sometimes you can't do that.

That's a doozy of a dot! My phone is a few weeks younger than yours so I will have to keep an eye out. Maybe it is doing it but i can't see it without my glasses! I'll go back through my photos as see if it shows up.
Good news on puss.

Another day of indolent nothing. So tiring. MrP did some fishing but not enough to feed us.

ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1420378314.445362.jpg

He did catch five though :p

So off to the next bay. A beautiful night - almost a full moon.

ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1420378778.569756.jpg

Tomorrow night is full moon. Full moon parties in Thailand are like schoolies on steroi_s because of cheap booze. The main island for this is Phangan. This is the island we will stop at on the day we leave on the ferry. As it will be around 10am we hope they don't surface on our ferry or it will be ugly.

An horizon less morning. Our last day here.

MrP already on the kayak mixing it with the big guys.

ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1420429156.698744.jpg

He's the little one.

Grabbed the binoculars and asked MasterP if it was possible to take a photo using them. Just as I mastered the art, MrP had cruised on past. I'll have to wait a couple of hours now.

This was a practise shot.

Seems this cat likes my lounge on Mondays. He was here last Monday.

ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1420456007.079314.jpg

But I bribed him.

ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1420456074.284052.jpg

Then he just sauntered off with that arrogant cat swagger.

Last Ko Tau sunset.

Full moon tonight in a clear sky.

Lovely looking sunset. Are you taking on drron for sunsets? I think he beats you by a mile though .
The time has gone really quickly.
You said there was some good snorkelling just off the beach. Did you manage to go on any bigger snorkelling trips - you were hoping to but it depended on the sea conditions.
A few days in BKK on the way home?
