What would everyone be doing now if it wasn't for this nightmare?
I would have been in Nouméa again, drinking champagne on the beach of Îlot Canard inbetween snorkelling sorties and watching the sunsets sipping coughtails with friends at the Chateau Royale before dinner at one of many amazing restaurants which cater more to locals than tourists.
On the bright side, I have a new dishwasher instead.
A year without travel is going to pay for a lot of home improvements.
None of them look quite this good, though or be this much fun
.

I'm with my friends on their horse property in a quiet rural location in South Carolina for the weekend, with my eyes slowly stopping watering and my frequency of asking them to repeat what they just said diminishing steadily as my hearing returns to normal...

I received this notification from the Qantas App:

I'd be in SIN looking to head to the QF First lounge before my JQ flight to BKK.

I still have a booking at an off airport hotel where I have a night booked for $23 using a $25 Jetstar hotel voucher.
After having the breakfast that was included in the $23 rate, I would be getting ready to take the hotel shuttle back to the Airport for my MH'null' flight to KUL followed by another flight to SIN to join the lounge crawl.

Asleep in seat 12F after a great time meeting fellow AFFers on our SIN Lounge run. A few too many Coke Zeros but what's the harm?

Today we are flying back to BNE and then the limo home after a wonderful trip. Was nice dreaming about it.

After spending the day on Tokyo (likely recovering from the previous evening's lounge crawl and/or red eye flight on JL) I'm working my way back to the monorail to HND to seek out the NH Business lounge before my flight on VA to BNE.

Rummaging around in the wardrobe for appropriate clothes for a 7-10 day holiday around the pool at a relatives place in Cairns in advance of tomorrows flight. Need bathers shorts t-shirts, hat etc that are feeling unloved in Melbourne for the last month or so. 🥶

Should be mid trip and spending time with our friends at Pigra (Lake Como). Have had some great times there-only a small village but a great little shop, some of bars/food and good company

Funicular down to Argegno and Lake Como

I was supposed to fly to Nuku'alofa on VA95 last night.

Tonga will still be there when all of this is over, but who knows if Virgin Australia will be (and if they are, whether they'll still be flying to TBU).

Our time in Fiji doesn't feel the same this year. The resort has had a huge amount of maintenance and everything is spic and span but no guests. Fortunately all the staff still have jobs as they are getting well ahead on the maintenance program.

Our first couple of nights were at the Hilton DT out of Nadi and then down to Pacific Harbour

Pictures are in no particular order.

Our welcome back message.

I took a double take at the image of the bed :oops:and then realised it was just the angle of the photograph

Right now I'd be driving the dog to the inlaws, then heading on SQ Suites for the first time, taking our three month old to LHR to meet the UK family for the first time.

It was due to be a two week trip where I'd end up watching loads of Glastonbury festival on the BBC and catching up with family and friends I've not seen in a year.

Also, Krug!

Should have been spending some time with distant relatives in Sankt Andreasberg. He is a mining engineer of some sort, guessing his interest was sparked by growing up near the silver mines. This is a photo he previously sent to us (him in a mine)
